Chaos Ogres

DESCRIPTION
The Ogres - a creation of the Old Ones meant to withstand the corruption of Chaos, yet unfinished. Resistant but not immune to the influence of the Ruinous Powers, some of them swear allegiance to the very Gods they were created to destroy.

Since the Ogres are a very archaic and authentic race, I wanted to create some myself and ended up with the Chaos Ogres, which in the end turned out as a roster addition for the Warriors of Chaos, the Chaos Dwarfs and the Ogre Kingdoms.

I have been working on this mod for a long while and hope you will enjoy it!




FEATURES

The Devourers – Custom Faction

The Devourers are a conquest-focused faction with strong armies but a limited economy.
  • replaces the WoC faction of the ‘Khazag’ (not to be confused with the norscan 'Khazag' faction from LCCP)
  • available for IE, IEE and The Old World Campaign
  • ‘Ghurzhaal the Dreaded Maw’ as legendary lord
  • custom buildings



CHAOS OGRE TYRANT

The Chaos Ogre Tyrant is a strong and tanky melee fighter. Being mostly an undivided character, this generic lord type is only available for Archaon, Kholek and Be’lakor.



CHAOS OGRE BRUISER

The Chaos Ogre Bruiser is a support character available for all Warrior of Chaos factions.



DEVOTED CHAOS OGRES

The Exalted Chaos Ogres are generic heroes and feature different skills, strengths and weaknesses depending on the dark deity which they devoted themselves to. On the battlefield they fulfil mostly a support role but are also decent fighters.

Additionally, there is also one Chaos Ogre unit for each Chaos God. While all of them are strong fighters, their roles are pretty different.

In campaign, the Warrior of Chaos factions have access to the units aligned to their respective god (f.e. Valkia has access to Chaos Ogres of Khorne and Exalted Chaos Ogres of Khorne).
The only exceptions are again Archaon, Kholek and Be’lakor with all of them having access to all devoted Chaos Ogres. All of the devoted Chaos Ogres can be recruited in a special shrine building.



UNDIVIDED CHAOS OGRES

The undivided Chaos Ogres are rather offensive troops. They are available for all Warrior of Chaos factions and can be recruited in a new building chain.

There will be no warband upgrade mechanic for the Chaos Ogres to allow for maximum compatibility with other mods.



Chaos Dwarfs
The Chaos Dwarfs have limited access to some of the Chaos Ogre units via new landmarks in the following locations:
  • Zharr-Naggrund
  • Tower of Gorgoth
  • Karak Dum
  • Black Fortress
  • The Volary
  • Bloodwind Keep



Ogre Kingdoms
The Ogre Kingdoms have limited access to some of the Chaos Ogre units via new landmarks in the following locations:
  • The Challenge Stone
  • Ruins End
  • Tribeslaughter
  • Granite Spikes
  • Bloodpeak
  • Tower of Khrakk



Monogods and Daemons of Chaos
Not supported. Do not ask for it. It’s confusing enough to keep the mod updated for 3 different races. Make a submod yourself.



COMPATIBILITY
There should be no compatibility issues.
My mod is compatible with Variant Selector, Tabletop Caps and The Old World Campaign.
The mod is compatible for LCCP when playing as Deathsword's Warband.

@Marvin: I gave it a quick try by launching a campaign in IEE with the custom faction myself and did not run into any issues. Your crash must be caused by another mod.

@DiViNe NeKO: Nurgle unit recruitment is a mess and one of the reasons why I decided not to add the Chaos Ogres to the monogod factions since I don't want to bother with all their mechanics.

Can you add the plague Ogre types to the Nurgle Faction roster, Nurgle needs more troop types and these blend really well

@Faith: Yes, I made them quite strong but they should also be rather seldom to encounter. And since they are mutated Ogres which are blessed by the Ruinous Powers, they are meant to be strong fighters. ;)

No worries bud, it's because I am using Radious, so you get extra points also. I think in vanilla they probably pan out pretty well.

The lords are hellllllla strong, once they get the mount and snacks / potential nurgle or khorne regen, dam they take some killing :D haha

@Faith: I was never a fan of skill dumps since they feel too much out of place compared to the vanilla game. And currently I think all lords and heroes feature enough skills to invest all skill points up to level 50. Back when I made the mod, creating all those different characters was a bit overwhelming and a lot of work - and at some point I felt somewhat burned out. That's why some of the skill trees came a bit short. Maybe I will rework them in the future.

great mod, really enjoy having them along side the belakor campaign, great addition. All the hero's / faction leaders could do with a skill dump however. 1% health or separate melee and defence + etc.

The lords are only a few off, but the heros have looooads wasted skills.
