Husky H4-265E v1.2

描述
Built to compete with GE's Universal Series (and later Dash 7 series), as well as EMD's GP line of diesel-electric road switchers, the Husky H4-265E was a dependable, reliable four-axle locomotive built with customization and crew comfort in mind. Originally built in a high-hood configuration, within a few years production had shifted almost entirely to low-hood variants because of their improved visibility and substantially greater popularity. The locomotive's unique angled cab design provided greater crew space without compromising the forward walkways and with a minimal impact on visibility.

A B-unit variant of the H4 (designated H4-265EB) was also produced alongside the initial run of H4s, with the intention of offering an alternative to other manufacturers' more powerful and expensive models by simply chaining multiple H4s together, but without the additional cost of the cab and controls on the standard locomotive. However, this met with much less success, as the lack of flexibility imposed by the cabless design made yard operations far more complex.
Most railroads simply weren't using H4s in long-haul freight drags, so the B unit was essentially unnecessary: there was just no market for it.

After production had ended, a factory conversion program was offered in the late 1980s to repurpose older H4s into cut-down yard slugs, which proved moderately popular with railroads still operating the type. A few railroads also converted some of their H4s into crewed road slugs (loosely referred to as H4-265ERS units by railfans, though this was not an official designation), but this was not a factory standardized conversion.

This locomotive is my third major kitbash of several official locomotives (primarily the AC44 and U20C/U26C), and is largely based on LEGO's 60052 Cargo Train in overall configuration and details. After that, it snowballed into my biggest solo mod pack to date, featuring fourteen different units! All are fictional, though most are based on real-world locomotives or paint schemes.

Includes
  • Factory-scheme locomotive, b-unit, and slug
  • LEGO 60052 locomotive
  • G&W high-hood locomotive
  • G&W ex-SP patch high-hood locomotive (based on PNWR 1501)
  • GeTA Sulfur ghetto-spec locomotive and GeTA slug
  • Maersk locomotive and b-unit (loosely based on LEGO 10219)
  • SPSF locomotive, slug, and road slug
  • White Pass & Yukon locomotive (based on WP&Y DL535Es)

Lights
  • Custom Light 1: Rear Headlight (white)
  • Custom Light 2: Rear Marker Light (red) [SPSF/G&W variants only]
  • Custom Light 3: Front Marker Light (red) [SPSF/G&W variants only]
  • Custom Light 4: Front Ditch Lights (flashing)
  • Custom Light 5: Front Ditch Lights (steady)
  • Custom Light 6: Rear Ditch Lights (flashing)
  • Custom Light 7: Rear Ditch Lights (steady)
  • Custom Light 8: Front Mars Lights [SPSF/G&W variants only]
  • Custom Light 9: Rear Mars Lights [SPSF/G&W variants only]

Additional Features

The White Pass variant has a unique gauge-switching feature (defaulting to standard gauge), allowing it to be run on either standard/Cape or narrow gauge rails as one prefers. Narrow gauge is prototypical for the WP&Y, but the majority of layouts use standard gauge, so both are available. This feature is controlled by custom light 9 and is exclusive to the White Pass unit.

ah! okay

Realistically nobody, it's in a niche that was already filled by both GM and EMD so there'd really be no reason to make it to begin with.
