"Everything was going great until the company allowed those damn YouTube content creators to record themselves visiting. They were a jinx!
As soon as they arrived those two full grown men began capering like a pair of attention starved children and before we could even get them off their ship and start the tour we were hit by no less than three massive tsunamis, two tornadoes, a meteor strike and to top it all off - three giant prehistoric sharks suddenly appeared out of nowhere and sank their ship, killing them both!

It wasn't safe anymore! I had no choice but to call the Stormworks Rescue Service and evacuate the rig.

It just all went South!!"

A fully functional bare bones rig base with oil drilling, storage and refining capability, very loosely based on the kind of layout you'd likely find on a real semi-submersible drilling rig (Well... If the rig ran on a shoe-string budget, failed all it's safety inspections and half of the topside modules were missing that is), plus this creation is both performance friendly and has plenty of room for additional player customisation.

I made this as I found there to be a distinct shortage of good oil rig player bases available on the Steam Workshop, so I eventually bit the bullet and made one myself based on what I'd seen and learned over the last 5 years, the end result was this little gem - which I even started using as one of the three main bases in my most recent classic career playthrough.

In fact I enjoyed using it so much I thought I'd share it with the rest of the Stormworks community!

To spawn this, just use the workbench/architect's table located at the custom player rig base. Be advised that as with all the player purchasable islands, it's location is random with each world seed.

You can now grab the Lite version HERE which runs almost twice as fast and is ideal for multiplayer gaming, people playing on slower PC's, or those that just cant resist bringing their super massive oil tankers to the rig.

• An Oil Drilling and Refinery system that is based on the preset one by Geometa and the Stormworks Devs, except with a few improvements and changes to make it a little more suitable for offshore use.
  
• 1 x 200,000l capacity oil storage tank and 2 x 100,000l capacity fuel storage tanks for diesel and jet fuel - all of which can be unloaded onto nearby vessels.
  
• 2 x 10,000l capacity fuel tanks that can be topped up from the larger fuel tanks when required.
  
• The winches for offloading the oil, diesel and jet fuel have both hose connectors and the older style fluid connectors, which means they can even be used with some of the older creations on the Steam Workshop.
  
• A two sided drilling rod rack next to the derrick that can be rotated to present a fresh set of drilling rods, while taking up only half the floor space.
  
• A fully stocked accommodation module, complete with living quarters, offices, workshop, medical room and canteen.
  
• A large helipad for use with most rotary craft available on the workshop.
  
• A huge crane that's ideal for loading and unloading ISO containers such as oil or fuel tanks, fresh drilling fluid and more drilling rods for those unlucky enough to have the custom rig base spawn in an exceptionally deep part of the ocean.
  
• A launch RHIB with it's own davit that can be used for any nearby rescue missions or to just ferry personnel to and from the rig.
  
• Two LB600 free-fall lifeboats that can be fully retrieved and refuelled after launch.
  
• A locked pyrotechnics cabinet that contains a flare gun, speargun, glowsticks 'etc' that can be unlocked using a code (the code can be found very easily just by exploring the living quarters).
  
• Very well lit during the night and there's even an option to turn on flood lights for when drilling at night time or when the weather gets bad after sunset.
  
• Very performance friendly. I've tried to keep everything more or less on one deck with a small gantry underneath for inspecting/repairing the wellhead, so even my potato of a computer can run this smoothly - even with a fairly large oil tanker bobbing up and down nearby.
  
• A Keep Active Block inside the office coffee machine keeps the rig loaded in memory and refining oil even when the player is away on a mission. This can be removed via the workbench if you so desire.
  
• A couple of hidden Easter eggs for anyone clever enough to spot them.

• Low and Auto physics settings can make the winch cables jump up and down (or a ham-fisted approach to using the drill rod connector and winches) can sometimes result in the Wellhead being damaged.
  This isn't something that I can fix on my side and the players will just need to be more careful. There's diving gear and plenty of underwater welding tools to fix things if this ever happens.
  
• Stormworks can be glitchy at the best of times and sometimes the robotic pivots do weird things such as pop out of place, go limp or even fail to rotate fully when there's a lot of them rendered in nearby.
  Again this isn't something that I can fix on my side but you just need to be aware of it in case it happens - be advised that sometimes moving your own creations away, reloading the save or restarting the game can fix this.
  
• Static creations such as structures and custom bases all have infinite power at the moment, so to save on system resources, those two large CAT generators are only made of normal blocks and are purely for decoration right now - if that ever changes in a future patch/update then I can easily replace them with ones that actually work.

Feel free to edit this creation for your own use and enjoyment, you can even upload your own version onto the Steam Workshop if you so choose to do so, as despite what other content creators may claim - we most certainly can't tell you not to... at least not legally.

All I would ask is that if you do plan on editing and re-uploading this, either on the Steam Workshop or elsewhere, is that you give credit both to myself and if possible add a link to this creation so that people can see everyone else that's contributed to it. Again, neither I nor anyone else can force you to do this, but it is considered common decency and good etiquette.
