Restore Utilities

描述
The B42 port is here! Please read below for info

For the time being, the B42 port is placed as its own workshop entry. It is (for now) missing the map mods contained within the B41 version of the mod.

Feel free to play with the update, but please read the workshop description before downloading. I've explained how to use the mod now that you can't repair at the designated buildings anymore. Click here to go to the B42 page

enjoy :) please leave comments for that build over there

Bring the power and the water back!

This mod adds the ability to restore the power and water grids in Knox Country, optionally comes with both a custom power substation and water treatment building to restore their respective utility at!

To repair the power or water, you'll need some electric skill, along with electronic scrap and optionally any "fuses" you come across that will give various bonuses to your repair. But be aware that your patchwork repairs will only last so long, you'll have to come back and repair it again at some point!

To initiate repairs, find the building that houses the utility you're trying to repair and head into the room with the PC in it (with the brown square floors), then simply right-click anywhere while standing in the room and you should see more information on how to repair!

Do note that no matter where you complete repairs from, their effects will be felt across the entire map (which SHOULD include any locations added by any map mods you may be running!)

Additionally, if you don't want to use the provided restore utilities map sub-mod (included when you subscribe to this mod), there are alternative options for setting up repair zones. See this guide for more details, or check below for map mods made by other mod authors who have kindly included restore utilities support!

Maps that support this mod

If not using any of the following map mods, you can enable the Restore Utilities Map sub-mod (included in the mod download) to add 1 place to repair each utility at, locations can be found in the mod preview screenshots on the steam workshop page.

Thank you to you wonderful map makers who have added support for this mod in your maps :D

Known conflicts

Map/mod conflicts!

Map tiles used for my power and water stations are: 19, 37 and 37, 27

Known map conflicts: Fort Redstone, Santuario, Anthem, Perfect Shelter, Cherokee Lake, Aardmore Farm, Fort Forest, Complex Z-17, Constown

Sandbox Settings Sync Fix - ALMOST CERTAINLY INCOMPATIBLE, if you're running into issues with your sandbox settings reverting, please try removing this mod if you have it installed.

Water and power controls (and by extension, Bikinitools, by the same author) - ALMOST CERTAINLY INCOMPATIBLE, like the above mod, please try removing this if you're having problems with sandbox settings reverting.

Random Shutoff (by me :) - compatible! Specifically made to work alongside each other

Blackouts - compatible! I worked alongside the Blackouts mod authors to ensure compatibility, if you have issues running these two mods together please let me know!

Existing savegame compatibility

Should be fine to install in an on-going playthrough. Though if you've already generated the chunks where the utilities are then I don't think they'll regenerate as my mod's buildings, so you'll have to add coordinates where you can repair by yourself (enable debug mode in singleplayer or have admin powers in mp)!

MP Compatibility

Works perfectly fine in MP, both dedicated host and local host! Though for larger servers you may want to consider adding your own repair locations in harder to reach areas than default. You may also want to consider changing the default sandbox settings!

Also probably incompatible with your immersion if you enjoy a hyper-realistic zomboid, power and water networks require a lot of smart people in a lot of different places, a single person probably wouldn't be able to do it all. :p

ah yeah, fair enough!

hopefully if someone in your group levels their electrical skill they'll start being able to keep a rough guess on when the utilities will next shut down, too. so hopefully power/water shutdown will eventually stop being a surprise and instead something you can all plan around!

i can't remember at what level exactly, but you start getting some solid info at the repair sites as your electrical skill levels up (or also using the fuse that looks like a piece of paper when you repair, that'll give you a new shutdown estimate)

Yeah I think I read that somewhere in the previous comments. I meant due to the size of the map and my player group only consisting of 4 of us, this way if power/water goes out and we're all on one side of the map it won't be quite as much of a slog getting to one of the repair points to bring systems back online

yeah the filtration plant is on the other side of the map from your current water repair areas, so hopefully that's what you're looking for

also just to clarify (there's a good chance im reading this wrong), when you say "(to cover the Louisville area)", you are aware that repairing the power/water at any area will repair it map-wide, right?

hopefully you're already aware, but in saying that, i just realised i never really explicitly state that repairs are map-wide in the mod description, whoops :D should probably make that more clear

Yeah, I have your location mod enabled, I was just looking for more spots. I've got water and electric in the SW of the map (Muldraugh and your location outside Rosewood or w/e that town is called), and one electrical in the NE of the map (to cover the Louisville area). Just needed one more for the water so that both sides of the map would have one of each.. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a look at the filtration plant.

i'm assuming you are aware of both the restore utilities included water repair location, along with the optional louisville filtration plant mod , and are either looking for additional places in addition to these, or in replacement of these. (if not, i'd recommend checking them both out!)

otherwise, honestly, it's probably been close to 2 years since i last played zomboid properly, so I barely remember the map at this point :p

unfortunately, your guesses are as good as mine

I've added one or two power substations as repair points for my MP server (there's only like 4 of us so not a huge issue with there being multiple), but I'm having trouble finding a good spot for a water repair location. B41 doesn't seem to really have any water treatment/pump plants or anything. Any ideas?

Forgot to update ya but nope it did not work, will post again if I find anything that does.
Fears 10 月 8 日 下午 1:41
Will try that on friday
Jackd44  [作者] 10 月 7 日 下午 8:31
hmm, that could be a culprit. if you find the time would you mind removing the mod temporarily (make a save backup!) and seeing if this mod works fine afterwards?

I have https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2794640100 installed although I had not tried using it till now.

I did some fiddling around and it turns out not only does the power grid go off on server reboot but the water state is set to "will break down in about 28 days" so I'm thinking the server is sort of stuck on those initial repair values I did at the Rosewood substation?
Doing any repairs now also no longer gives me the report card.
