Opis
The Nereus is a research submarine designed for charting the depths, that was commissioned by the Stormworks Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Since the Submarine was strictly for research and exploration most amenities for the occupants are minimal at best. In their place are numerous screens providing data about the outside conditions, location, and system controls. It is also able to transmit its forward facing camera feed via a video transmitter. If you cannot see simply turn on the plethora of lights or jettison an onboard illumination flare.

Designed to operate with two crew members, the Nereus is capable of keeping its crew comfortable and safe. With plenty of PPE and a cabin heater the researchers inside should be able to operate effectively whilst conducting experiments and oceanography. Since oceanography and research undersea can force a craft to remain at depths for an extended period of time, a modular engine in the rear can recharge the batteries while undersea. A real life saver in any situation. Not only was the Nereus built for research but, it was purpose built to fit inside of the moon pool of the R/V Deep Reach I.

Dimensions:
31 Blocks long
11 Blocks wide
13 Blocks Tall

Operating Instructions:
Turn on the master Switch, fill ballast to change buoyancy,
wasd controls fwd/bwd and yaw left and yaw right
The direction arrows control depth (up arrow for increasing the depth down for the inverse) whilst the side arrows control lateral translation
***disclaimer lateral translation is not perfect some yaw will be required to translate effectively***

If the sub is operating from the Deep Reach I, a crew of two is the minimum required amount. 1 person to man the submarine, the other to man the moon pool controls aboard the Deep Reach. This being said a crew of 3+ is advised in order to operate the ship, moon pool, and submarine in unison.

@staypuft It's been in the ol idea bin for a while, maybe eventually there will be! Although the current project is an aircraft.

Will there be an AUV and ROV added to the SOAA family?

Available space and balancing power consumption are the two biggest issue with a submersible this small. The only thing I can recommend is ensuring the ballast tanks are full, depth hold is set, and just enjoy the descent.

so it seems this sub may need some additional ballast, it returns to the surface fairly quickly but diving is painfully slow. don't know if it's an issue with ballast or if the vertical thrusters are just not pulling all that hard, might just add some weight blocks to it
