I built this reworked mod as a hobby project because it was something I wanted for my own gameplay. Due to life and responsibilities, I no longer have the spare time to work on this mod.

If anybody wants to expand on this mod, or add fixes to any issues found, please do. The easiest way would be to create an add-on mod.

• No longer requires holding the minimap in order for it to be mapping out your environment. (The minimap item is now purely a tool to open the minimap)

• Added compatibility for Stardust Core Lite to add a menu item if you prefer not to use a map item. (Highly recommended)
  
  
• Added death markers - any time you die, a marker will be created at that location with the time recorded. You can then see (in play time) how long ago you died there, and more easily find your way to your dropped loot.
  
  
• Added a new button to the minimap to quickly clear all death markers on the current world in case you suffer from chronic deaths syndrome
  
  
• Adjusted recipes for the 3 items to be attainable earlier in the game.
  
  
• Added larger expanded view of minimap to allow for viewing more at once. CAUTION: THIS LARGER MAP VIEW WILL DROP YOUR FRAMERATE WHEN USED

Map out planets as you explore and mark locations of interest using the survey compass, the surface charter, or the minimap.

Please be sure to provide your starbound.log file (located in your Starbound Install folder under "\storage\starbound.log") and as many details as possible to help in figuring out the cause of the issue.

Aside from a minor visual adjustment and compatibility update, the surface mapper tool and the survey compass tool have not been changed from the original mod, and will likely not be changed in this version of the mod.

Q: Is there a way to prevent the minimap from closing when I press the "ESC" key?
A: TLDR; Unfortunately not. Read further for the reason:
This has been asked many times, and sadly, this is a limitation of the game and how the windows work. The ESC key will always close the last-focused window, and then once all windows are closed, the ESC key will open the pause menu.

I have spent a lot of time digging into this to try and figure out the best way around it, but there really isn't due to the way the game handles windows.

My best suggestion would be to also subscribe to Stardust Core Lite. This will allow you to open the map from the quick menu in the top right instead of requiring you to switch to a map tool to open it.

As a side note, if someone wants to create an add-on for this mod, using the idea behind the Stardust Core Lite mod's quick bar change, they could theoretically allow a keybind to be set up. This isn't something I'm going to be doing however, as it will cause compatibility issues, and belongs in an add-on instead.
