even deeper thought: imagine if that repeater network that connects the mainland to the arctic were capable of remotely guiding the autopilots of planes, dependent on the plane's id (and maybe a key, stored in a microcontroller aboard the plane, where there has to be a connection by electrical anchor?) and direction into a console at the departing airport, maybe even ensuring there's some sort of lane based system in the air to avoid in-air collisions (onboard microcontroller should also store the dimensions of the aircraft so that the ground stations can adjust accordingly)

it'd be nice if custom handhelds were actually added in, and this were adapted for multi-way radio comms (even better if someone builds a repeater network). Just imagine a radio screen saying "SAWYER REPEATER" as you're driving or flying in the vicinity of a repeater. This would be awesome.

(side note, imagine if someone built a repeater network that connected the arctic with the mainland, and seeing the id change to "MSG FROM ARCTIC", and being able to jump onto a different frequency to the mainland network for your reply to be sent up north)
