Uncompromising Mode

Uncompromising Mode (often shortened to "Uncomp" or "UM") was created with the goal of revitalizing the difficulty of DST. The mod adds randomness, variety, and challenge to the game's core mechanics, without making the experience annoying and tedious. However, it isn't simply just "a harder experience". Uncompromising Mode houses a lot of new content such as new mechanics, items, mobs, biomes, and bosses.




* Three new characters, and a total mechanical rework of Walter!
* Rebalances and tweaks to nearly everything in the game!
* Night Terrors! Something may be lurking in the dark.
* New Weather Events, such as Snow Storms.
* More Nightmare Creatures. Insanity is an actual threat now; Stay past the brink and you may never return.
* A new overworld biome called the Hooded Forest, which houses a lot of new content including a new boss.
* A bunch of new items and mobs, ranging from dangerous to helpful.
* Some mobs have new attacks, ranging from spiders to bosses.
* The Veteran's Curse, a special Difficulty mode that grants access to powerful items at the cost of your wellbeing.
* Character tweaks and reworks. The Big 3 have had their downsides more pronounced, Willow has more fire-related perks, Maxwell has access to his singleplayer shadow puppets, small animals don't drop souls for Wortox, etc.
* A custom OST, containing music composed by Adam Ogrodnik.
* And more!

Now people of all skill levels can enjoy the new content!

Anyone reading this can contribute their ideas and get them added to the mod by joining the discord. We have an entire system built for players to come up with and submit ideas! We also have a large, active community! Of course, the Github[github.com] or Discord[discord.com] is also the fastest way to get a bug fixed as well.

Gameplay Warning:
Several things, most notably Wixie & Wathom, don't work properly with Lag Compensation enabled! And a few of those turn it off. temporarily.

Mods like 'Dusk and Night Music' overwrite the game files with 8 year old outdated files, which removes a lot of vanilla content, and makes it incompatible with Uncompromising Mode. We do not recommend using those mods with Uncompromising Mode as it disables our official soundtrack to prevent crashing.
