@Eco Well, Xbawks did make the first-ever character creation extender, so basically everyone even looking at Race-mods for Starbound knows about it, and since an extender is required to make a new character of a modded race, they recommend the one they know.

Bug report:

The first 8 slots on the top right doesn't seem to be able to show the race's description
Is it possible for you to fix that?

I'm honestly surprised xbawks is more popular than this, this has way more character slots than xbawks has and ever will had from what they've said (and been a bit of an ass about if I'm remembering correctly) to people, yet I still see people recommending xbawks over this.
