Inquiry: Is It Possible to Create Underground Cargo Stations?
I have had this question lingering on me for a long while now.

I love this game a whole damn lot, but I feel like there are some curbs and limitations thrown our way as to how far we can go in designing cities and industries. I personally would love being creative and go crazy in building a city for which its central citizen facility storage (meat, food, etc) was entirely resupply-able through underground trains.
For this to be possible, though, we'd need up two adjustments, I imagine. First, we'd need an underground cargo station, and then also the ability to drag subterranean cargo connectors into existence, be it "normal" factory connections or conveyors.

Sadly, I have no way in trying this out myself due to time constraints and lacking know-how in creating mods, but would it technically possible to make this dream come true? I'd love to see experiments be done on how far we can go in city- and industry planning, and I see genuine upsites to ferrying cargo underground as I illustrated above; the freed up space could happily be used for more residential areas and more, allowing for unprecedented creative freedoms.

Thank you!

Your goals for an underground second city of supply lines seems a bit out of the design envelope of the game, which is to produce a 60s-80s era Soviet city, and to the best of our knowledge, that wasn't something they experimented with.

However - there is a mod for underground cargo conveyors.
The mod allows you a choice of several different fixed lengths of 'conveyor' (it functionally acts as a warehouse with 1-in 1-out conveyor connections that is hidden 15m underground) that offer you 50, 100, 200, 300m conveyor lengths to route easily around urban clutter.
Aggregate and Bulk-Dry conveyors are in the mod.

I am very sorry for the belated reply, but thanks for letting me know about the underground conveyor mod and for providing quick answer to my inquiry!

I am very well aware that this game has its themeing to replicate an eastern bloc nation in the cold war, and though it may surely not be typical for such a nation to resupply entirely underground as I have described above, I have long since personally started to to view this game as a sandbox of sorts and I think it's simply something cool and fun to get going and working.
No less, this was a mere inquiry, and though I'd still happily welcome any news on that end, I can make do without that feature.

Thanks!

Its a cheat but you can build stuff, activate the landscape tool in the cheat menu, raise the land up and it will cover what you want covered. Now you'll have to be careful not to cut off access to these things.

I saw a guy make basically an underground railroad on youtube doing that, then built on top of it. I been thinking about doing it. Say it had a fuel stop under there and trucks needed to deliver the fuel. You'd have to somehow leave a spot for the truck to get in, maybe a road tunnel can be built, I don't know.

Okay I'm gonna go try it, will be back in a little while.

Okay, I tested, you can do that but the buildings underneath block building from being built on top of them even with dirt between them.

Went back and ran the little programs that get rid of collisions and you can build on top then. It looks stupid with the rail just coming out of the ground with no entrance or exit model there.

You cannot click on the buildings that you put under ground this way. I couldn't even see them with the under ground view tool so it better not be something you want to access later

Thank you very much for looking into this! Did you manage to hook a storage up? From what I read, I think it'd be feasable if you place down said storage alongside a factory connection before moving on to landscaping, and I wonder if underground rail tunnels would help in making the rails look less jaring.

Regarding problems selecting the cargo station: we can still select it through the list of buildings tab, I think. And if we have at least 1 line for both road and rail vehicles stored somewhere, you can do everything ever required with it, bar a rail distribution office, so long as there wasn't one assigned before the landscaping.

I can also imagine that it can looks pretty decent with some decorative elements. I wonder if there are decorative tunnel entrances in the workshop, but I feel like embankment mods can get their good ammount of use as well, I feel.

I put a train fueling station under it and already had a road coming out from it before I buried it. It will all work but once buried you are not adding to anything under there unless you unbury it and that will mess up anything you've built on top.

I am accepting of that limitation. If you properly plan an area out fully, you won't need to acvount for any changes. Thank you once again for going out your way testing this!
