I'm not sure how viable this is or how difficult it would be, as I'm largely oblivious to the mod process, but I'd love a high quality sound mod for the game that addresses the various sounds within the game.

Sound is one of the biggest points of immersion for me, particularly with tactical shooters, and one of my longstanding bugbears is GR's sounds.
