New to the Workshop scene
Good evening,

I played the hell out of C&C growing up and was thrilled to see it make a comeback. I am new to Steam Workshop but how do you go about creating maps to be able to play?

Well, first of all, get the upgraded version of the map editor. The one included in the game is really buggy and cumbersome.

Go to "Releases" in the right-side sidebar, get the latest version, unpack it in a new folder on your disk and run it. It might be worth reading the manual; it explains roughly how the entire editor works:

You can read some of the development history in this topic.

Then... two important questions:
  • Which game are you planning to make maps for?
  • Are you trying to make scripted singleplayer missions, or multiplayer maps?

Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert are fairly different in scripting, so you'll need to look into some guides if you want to make missions.

Finally, to upload your missions on the Steam workshop, there's simply an option in the editor under "File -> Publish".

If you are going to be making single player maps . These guides are for the original editor
But should get you started .

The CNCBasics one is a little more in depth as far as getting things on the map

The Red Alert one sort of skips over a bit more about getting things on the map and concentrates more on the RA scripting side

You never updated your guides with notes on the stuff I fixed though; it still mentions the starting waypoint error, the blind numeric arguments in the teamtypes, etc.

In fact, it still shows the bug of having three different data fields in the TD triggers UI; that was even fixed in the official editor.

I did say they pertain to the original editor..

I never fixed them because i think i got rid of the images and overwrote the maps

I would make new guides for using your editor eh if i had the time LoL Plus that there is not much sense in doing that while you are still changing things
