After running the eraser tool through the right eye of 'onfe faelain' and breaking the texture, it could just be that Paint Tool SAI is not capable or does not support "whatever it is" that I'm not understanding either.
I have other tools that are more technical when it comes to saving images with particular encoding and color ranges, but I can't find anything in the documentation that helps me in this regard.
Safe to say further testing will be done without Paint Tool SAI.
I know deep down that creating patterns entirely within blender will be the "easiest" workflow going forward, but 2D art is an ingrained hobby, and 3D art is new to me as of yesterday.
also blender's UI really does suck to learn, it seems like a neat tool but my learning curve for modding this game has been 10% any actual modding and 90% "how to do X in Blender" because for some reason most creative programs feel like they're designed by math teachers.
