Slowing the game down - a more thoughtful game
I've experimented a bit with the speed of trains.

Reducing speed to 33% isn't a lot of fun, but reducing to 50% certainly is!

At 50%, I'm spending far more time tinkering and optimizing. I'm planning far more ahead too - where I want which businesses, separation of freight and express goods (I do that in the vanilla game too, but more so here). And the added bonus is that I feel zero need for the pause function.

At 33% I had the game running at double speed for 12 years straight. Doesn't make much sense that way.

Just changing it flat-out does not really work to slow the game down in a responsible way.

One thing I only just realized was that the AI's penchant for using underworld employees and invention auctiuons needs to be dimmed down. They're so gung-ho on getting these that they'd rather spend money on those than a new line.

Innovation points need to come slower too.

There's many other things that need to be tweaked as well.

I've not gone very deep into the settings yet though, keen to hear other people's thoughts.

I agree game speed is an issue, but i blame the speed of income, rather than speed of trains.
Inovation points are fine on maps that allow all ages/techs during one gameplay.
Possible solutions i see:
1. More expensive production building and their upgrades.
2. Lower tech income, more expensive universities.
3. More cities/facilites on map = bigger maps
4. Buying permissions to build station in city - the more cities you occupy, the more expensive it will be.
5. Maybe unlocking ages with money

I agree, income comes way too easily.

Interestingly enough, when I slowed down the trains, income slowed down faster than I slowed down the trains so I think that is covered.

I think we need to go beyond what is currently covered in the suggested modding tools for a lot of things. Which probably also brings it outside of my meager programming skills. :)

I'm going to dive back in this weekend, see what is possible.

Can i somehow get it in GOG version? Like by uploading mod outside of steam and lauchning it somehow?

I guess it is irrelevant now, since DEVs wrote a post about making huge map with all techs available for research :-)

Well, i hope bigger map and all tech levels will be enough to increase session length to 15+ hours
