What's the best way to get into Portal 2 map making?

I want to learn, but honestly have no idea where to start. I've seen some of the crazy map packs some have made. I want to use whatever tools they were working with.

If you're a "learn by doing" kinda person, I'd suggest starting with the in-game puzzlemaker, then exporting that to Hammer ("Portal 2 Authoring Tools" in Steam, Tools section) and looking at how puzzlemaker generates the objects.

I'd also suggest YouTube tutorials, but I don't have any specific examples for you.

also what in the name of all that is holy have you done to your Steam profile

also, also, I never knew this discussion forum existed, but is it for discussions on specific workshop items? if so, how did you post this thread in general
