This mod does not work wiht current version of the game. You can't just replace a model texture , you have to edit fxsxml and gr2 files.

No, it just makes them low resolution. So their textures are a little blown up if looking really close.

so does this affect anything other than improving performance, like if i have a unit of warriors will less of them show up or something?

Awesome Idea for a mod and kudos for making it happen :) As others have said an Ethnic units compatability version would be amazing, but stand-alone this is still a brilliant mod.

Technically if the files aren't used, then the game only loads them once, when the mod is activated so the game won't slow down because of it.

It is compatible with non-G&K. I was just thinking that it would reduce lag if you removed the files for the other units that can't be used without G&K. I'm not sure if it would make that much difference (or if the files are even added in the first place) but it might make it better.

It's just art files so it should be compatible.

It's because units are so small that they don't need large resolution textures, it just wasted space.
