Just to clarify from below, the game only crashes when hovering over the items that do not have pictures. As far as I can tell right now, the rest of the mod works seamlessly.
Of course, this mod addds new items that are not generated be the default game.So if you load from a pregenerated world, they won't be there and that may lead to problems.
I also don't know why you changed it. It only penalizes Vampires early game. =p But I fixed it on my end, so I don't care.
They were originally funguses, but it messes up with Fungus Arts. I also made them drinks at one point, but I can't remember why I changed them to food. I can look into that if there still is a demand for vampire thief :)
I don't take suggestion, since I'm not playing the game and I forgot all the game ballance, therefore I cannot create new items that will integrate well into the existing mod.

Hmm, I don't know if Elite items are the strongest of all the weapons, they just are my favourite cause I loved the whole Clockwork Knights concept. I've made them stronger then the original Clockwork weapons.
If I remember correctly on the hammer there is shock n stun effect, on the axe improved chance of triggering ability of the original. spear has bleeding damage, that's from the top of my head, I can look into the files if you want.

So the most probable asnwers for your problem are these:
1) you don't have all the addons
2) you have a mod that conflicts wtih ACnS
3) something happened during your installation of my mod, so maybe you need to reinstall it.
You can craft crushed gems and scraps from nothing.
Don't know, because I don't know this mod. If there are new items, they won't be in the recycling recepies obviously.
Also I have new item "leather". The mod you mentioned probably has its own leather. so there are gonna be two leathers.
So it would probably work however I don't think it's possible to convert one type of lether to another. Unless leathercrafting mod can be broken down to its own leather. In that case you could use one of the items as a bridge.
Leather + Leather + Leather --> Leather boots --> leathercrafting leather x3
You can put it in the game following these simple steps
In documents \Gaslamp Games\Dungeons of Dredmor\mods\Advanced Craft'n'Smelt\mod
There are two files that need a bit of editing.
1) itemDB.xml
Find string
<!-- <item name="Master Tinkerer's Mask" iconFile="items/helm_mastertinkerer.png" level="14">
And delete this <!-- and this --> tags around the recipe. this will unlock this item
2) craftDB.xml
Find string
<!-- <craft hidden="0">
And delete this <!-- and this --> tags around the recipe. this will unlock the recipe.
