So I did a little work to look at that bug you mentioned, I'm running Frackin' on mine (cause if you're gonna mod, go big or go home) and I wasn't able to replicate either of your issues... Sorry, however I may add a new pet skin if i feel like it

Alright I'll have to look into it, I think I see the connection between Avali, as the Avali has a cat like the humans do, I currently don't know anyway to fix the issue you mentioned, I'll have to look into it more, it's been awhile since I've worked on this mod so it'll take some time to figure out what's happening, and I didn't get anything from that link you put below... And I haven't particularly experienced the issue you have mentioned, but I'm sure there is a solution.

I managed to fix the bug by choosing Human version of this mod. It changed Avalis pet as well. Probably has something with Avali Triage cat pet itself.

This is the only pet i see fitting for avali and imo it should be added into Avali Triage.

However, right now this mod bugs star navigation map. I wouldn't mind if it was pure cosmetical bug, but it makes "Bookmarks" button unusable (also u can't move star map itself and it may cause some problems with chosing/landing far orbiting planets cuz moves the map higher) which is a big NoNo!.

Alright, scratch BB-9E instead I'm going to update all of the races and BB-8 Base to Custom Ship Pet, BB-8 will be a Custom Ship Pet Option along with many others, that will be installed with the race support mod to allow the user to choose between a few custom Pets.
Only 1 custom pet skin/ base mod will be usable at a time, anymore at a time will crash the game other people can modify BB-8 Base and change the Png file to an animation that they created of their own custom pet, if its good I might even add it to the Skin list.

BB-9E should be "Easy" to add, I'll be sure to add it as a mod if enough people show support for it.

Hello everyone its been a week and you may have noticed that Starbound Crashed, this is because of a new update of BB-8, adding Vanilla race support, you need to download BB-8 Base in order to use this mod, BB-8 Base allows the assets to be in one place allowing you to install BB-8 to more than one race at a time.
