I cannot find the "Data Files" tab to press in the new library page. I opened by pressing play and then opened the data files, found the mod and the box was unchecked. I checked the box and tried again to start the game and got the same message as before which was/is: failed to extract plugin file from ckm. It was trying to install the mod, but I had not uninstalled it.
This occurred overnight from closing out to trying to open game this morning.

For those of you saying this mod doesn't work; it does. You just need to make sure it is in your load order. To do this, you open Skyrim, and before pressing "Play" on the launcher, press "Data Files". This will open a list of all the mods you have downloaded, whether they are active or not. You can tell if a mod is active if it has a check by it. For me, this mod didn't have a check by it, so all I had to do was click next to the mod to make it active. This works for every other mod, too. Just make sure your mods are active.

good to know that it dont work with race mods (i got one for Argoinans) this would also explain why a diff hair color mod crashes the game when i open the magic menu.

The first time I used this it worked, but whenever I try to use these hair colors on nords now it doesn't work. I found out the colors transferred to the Khajiit fur colors. Is there anyway I can fix this?

Half the hair colours are the default colours repeating at least eight times before becoming any other colour.

Gave my imperial magenta hair, wanted to change it again, did the showracemenu in the console and it shows no more colors. Just the standard. Don't know why :( had BOSS re order the mods and it still does that.

Is there a way for it to work for modded creatures? I have the Fennec, but they didn't seem to come with a dds file for the hair. Which makes it difficult to edit the hair, when it seems to stick with whatever fur color is on.

I'm happy with the hair colours but for some reason having this mod installed makes my vampire characters face look normal again so I had to uninstall, shame.

@assassinchat, Just so you know the eye thing is from being a dragaur then back to a nord etc. and then you will have glowing blue eyes. I had that and hated it.
