If anyone is interested, I did my own version of this ship (based on this hull). I fixed the oxygen issue and has a slightly different paintjob. Plus plenty of decorations on the inside.

Um.. this ship is kinda broken. There is no oxygen anywhere on the ship according the the HUD, and whenever I click the switch on the control panel to turn oxygen on, it switches back off by itself unless main power is off...

You should see the modified bridge and engineering xD. I also added a lovely torpedo bay on deck 7, replacing two of the antennas with torpedo launchers too. Imma keep tweaking her till her entire interior is in place. Although she's gone from a size 9 to a size 12 xD

I love the soyuz, it has so much hangar space! i've been modifying the design.... adding some o2 and suit repair systems to the airlocks, texturing the blank walls... revamping power and thrust, i even redid the o2 systems so every deck (except the main deck 5) is thouroghly oxegenated. i even modified shuttlebay 3 to have a bigger door, and access to the storage space beneath it.

Oh, and the thing about the excelsior, true it was SOMEHOW more graceful than the connie, but oddly enough, not by much. Even in the later series, the excelsior isnt known for out manuvering anything unless its starfleets bigger cruisers like the ambassador or galaxy. Soverign out manuvers it though.

+doomsday, thanks for leaving that great comment. Yeah, I hit sort of a 'practicality limit' with my Excelsior build. It doesn't mess up the game functioning for me, but it isn't the graceful ship that it should be either. lol I'd really like to see even larger Capital ships function well under some sort of conditions, not sure what that ought to be.
+TheGame Sage, yes, I think I can turn my Leavenworth into a Centaur quite easily now that you mention it. Maybe after my next build, which is going to be a non-Federation Star Trek ship.

Yeah, im 32 myself. SE still cant run a 1:1 scale galaxy class with accurate as possible interior without throwing a fit.

oh and mythra, about your leavenworth class ship. extend the nacelles out a bit and you would have the USS Centaur. they are practically the same ship. Anyway, the centaur was supposed to be the replacement to the miranda class as the excelsior replaced the Constitution.

I love that you have a love for the series I grew up with star trek (and yes I am that old 56 ) I just wish they weren't so server breaking LOL I still remember the guy that spawned in stargate atlantis on a server and poof +1 for design -1 for practcality. good job!

*Each of the red squares is meant to be a meter wide/tall. The block behind the character is represented as 2.5 meters. This scale means two blocks high is approximately 6.5 feet tall. That makes the character standing beneath that red line of about average height, as opposed to one in game block being 2 meters which would give the characters height at around 5'4" I believe. I'm 5'11" and my wife is about 5'3", I don't think the 2 meters per block works out as well.

This ship, which as soon as i master ship building in this as I just picked this game up, thanks to a friend gifting it to me, I will designate the Harlock Class, after a certain CGI anime character who happens to be the titular charater for which the movie is named.

For example, a humongous ship that combines the battleship-ish layout of the Proxima class with the 4 nacelles, torpedo pod over the saucer, twin engineering hulls and massive saucer that while looks like the constitutions, is actually about 5x the size, but with the following differences, the saucer follows more of a soverign/galaxy hybriding look, with twin but longer, galaxy class engineering hulls, a center pylon that comes from both engy sections that has on top a mission pod like that of the nebula class but larger. from the outside face of each pylon is a nacelle strut like the ones on the nebula but at the point they curve down, another strut also curves up. The nacelles themselves are those from the Mnemosyne class from the Chris Jones mod for Star trek Legacy. Only, by comparison to the Proxima, it is about 3-5x larger than the prox, with 6 times the firepower, and incredible resilience.

indeed a nice ship. I like building star trek inspired ships myself in space engineers, however, the last patch on that drove the sysreqs on that so high my laptop overheats and shuts down within 5 minutes of my map loading. So i will be building them here as i get about an hour or so. Just be aware that when i say star trek "inspired" that means that they follow the aesthetic, but they are unique classes.

+Mythra, Those turrets actually were hybrid phaser/sensor turrets. There were also some extra sensor antennas coming from the sensor dome on the underside of the saucer section. Presumably those sensors were meant to detect really hard to find things. Such as masked warp signatures, ships that used cloaks that the federation had managed to penetrate. Basically anything that might try to violate the Federation's territory.

+The Game Sage When I started the build I was actually under the impression that it had four weapons turrets. It wasn't until nearly completed with the main part of building that I read about it having extra sensors. That, and also realizing the in-game turrets are MUCH smaller than those on the Soyuz. It's unfortunate, because despite the popularity of this build, I still wish it had correct looking turrets, OCD i guess. Thanks for the information, Sage.

The Soyuz class was described as a "border cutter" classification. Basically a fast response border patrol vessel, as described in the novel star trek the next generation: ship of the line. the first few chapters give some back story on the USS Bozeman. the ship that rammed the Enterprise 17 times. It covers the events that leads up to(from the crews perspective) the nearly ramming the Enterprise D. Anyway, as I said before, the Soyuz was a patrol vessel, therefore those turrets are very likely weapons. meant to intimidate would be border violators.

manarc, I agree with Anubitfire completely, this is a Soyuz. I could've easily built huge sensor turrets instead of the weapons but they wouldn't turn and it would just be a cosmetic change to make it 'look' more accurate. So, as I said in the description, I opted for more functional weaponry instead.

No that is a Soyuz class. The turrets are a bit small making it look a bit more like the Miranda class but this is a Soyuz class for sure.
