Since not many of us actually learn the history in a comprehensive way, In the end, people starts to mix concepts such as patrioticism, nationality with their Own identities.The popular media in China has a big role in here. People tend to think if you, for example, suspect the existence of heroes in Chinese history, you are not Chinese. You are traitors, someone who are brainwashed by foreigners or outsiders. So i guess many factors have influenced lots of Chinese to predispose regarding political events and history.

@relic personally I don't know if that is all caused by the sensitiveness of Chinese people regarding their past.In fact, many Chinese people do not really value history, arts very much in comparison with many subjects such as Biology or Chemstry in school. Moreover, Many of us actually have not fully studied history in a way (with critic thinking etc)that has been taught in western nations, partly because The communist party want to maintain social stability, partly because some early history of Asian regions is based on myths and poems. I feel like many people nowadays in China tend to engage in self-censorship cause they realize that if they do not think or speak accordingly to the popular ideology they gonna be harassed by other people at least on the web. This process keeps going on and on and eventually few of them want to to get trouble.
