Updated and vastly improved the mod
The symbol for calvary and paratrooper division on the big map is still the old (vanilla) ones. I didn't check further since I only open the 1939 campaign. The light tank division's symbol is right.
Hello
This mod is compatible with blackice
also, cool mod
The symbology here is decidedly post-WW2 (late Cold War -> Present to be precise), though it originates in older symbology, primarily from the Anglophone sphere (UK/US).
Historically accurate icons are moddable, just not as well sourced, and with less people being interested in it.
The specific 'parachute' symbol got canned with MIL-STD-2525A/APP-6A in 96/98 and doesn't exist anymore.
"And then there are things like these binoclars [...]"
The recon symbol was already occupied by cavalry (no symbol exists in the standard, closest is infantry with a 'pack animal' modifier), likely based on the usage of similar symbology in previous systems.

One thing to note: MIL-STD-2525 (USA) and APP-6 (NATO) have changed a great deal since their inception, even including some elements changing meaning completely.
Newer versions are - in general - more modular, merely defining components and their location, refraining from defining finished symbology almost entirely.
