False alarm, seems running the mod along with this mod: http://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=308753229&searchtext=metro+mod causes the issue to happen, sorry for bothering.

This starts spamming non stop once a gas mask is picked up, from that point forward, at the bottom left is a oranged out version of the gas mask icon with no key prompt, any attempts to press the key to actually put the mask on seems to not work.
