The 15-30s pause on levelup is aboslutely real. I only use 2 other mods, and the are minor, like respec potion.

Comment to my last post: -25% exp of the total exp to reach next level, after testing. You can go negative xp on your progression, but you will not lose a level. Neat.

-25% exp of what? Your total accumulated exp, your current progression towards next level, or the total exp to reach next level?

Ok well I can try to fiddle around with the offending effect in GUTS, but it is a bit hard if i can't test it myself.. I'll try! ;)

I think the lag depends on the amount of mods you have installed and their overall size.

Also, actually I did just notice a bit of lag when I leveled up, but definitely not 10-15 seconds. This was more like 1/2 a second or something. Very strange!

It's kind of strange because I'm having trouble reproducing the issue on my end. Even if i load the mod only with a new save folder I can't seem to make it happen. What level are your characters? Does it happen in all zones, including the starting area?

Hmm OK well I try to have a look at it soon and see if I can do anything. I may have to just disable the heal on death effect for now in the meantime. It's still a brutal enough penalty having your portal close on death anyway to be honest

I've been troubleshooting this all evening. It has something to do with the BossHeal calls on death (perhaps your passive player bossheal skill?). I'm an avid modder but have zero experience with GUTS and T2 until today. I took your mod and unpacked it then loaded it in GUTS and was troubleshooting by removing functionality, then loading a save I had backed up that was just about to level. If I strip out everything except your UI changes and the actual death penalty, the leveling freeze goes away. (Basically all that's left is the RESURRECT and UI folders, with the required PNGs and UI.RAW).

I've published this privately so I can test it in a live environment. So far the penalties are working and you're restricted to town respawn only. The portals are closing on death as well (PORTALCLOSER under MENUS is firing).

All my leveling lag went away. I have no clue why I'm the only one noticing it.

Wow that's strange, I've never seen that happen before.. Is that every time you level up? I'll try to find the time to trouble shoot this.

Man I love this mod, but with it (and only it) enabled on a fresh game on a fresh install, I get total freeze ups for about 10 seconds when leveling up. I tried everything to fix it, turned off the mod and started a new toon and it went away. /sadpanda

@Perkins I'd say definitely it's conflicting with one or more of your mods. Synergies and TL2 essentials are pretty massive in scope so there's lots of moving parts there. You could try putting this mod at the top of the load list and see how you go. Essentials is probably the most likely culprit..

I have made a new character set to elite difficulty and it doesn't work. character dies and permanent death the menu you picture dose not pop up. I have tried this several times. I have a lot of other mods running does this affect it?

Hmm, I'll help if I can, but you'll need to give me more info. What exactly is happening when you try to use it? What other mods are you using? If it's not working, it's probably a conflict of some kind.

mmm, maybe u wanna move the "In this mod I have attempted to take the death penalty" part of your description to the beginning, so it shows up in the tooltip when mousing over mods - should give ppl a better feel of what the mod is all about at first glance ;)

10 outta 10. Dying in a boss fight just to continue where you left off after a small walk is so anti-climatic, cheap and mentally unrewarding in vanilla. So glad this exists.

Ha yes, some would say (and some have said lol) that's it's too harsh. But I made it cause I love HC mode but don't have the time to reroll. It's a "Hardcore Lite" sort of thing. Heh maybe that'd be a better name for it actually! :D

Hey man sorry I forgot to reply to your question. To make it work I borrowed and tweaked a few different ideas. Doudley showed me how to use the ui editor to apply an affix to the player all the time without needing an item. The affix itself is a skill that's cast when the player dies. Corley has a mod that uses altered player skills to heal bosses on death, but I used the serker howl skill instead so it targets everyone in range. So that's it! :)

Glad to hear my crit mod works as intended :-)

In an previous mod of mine i had tried to change all the boss encounters so that when you die, they regenerate.. Actually, it was done by disallowing resurrection in place, and putting a sphere around the boss area - whenever you exit that sphere, the boss regenerates. But it was painful because i had to modify every single boss encounter (i stopped at act 1 lol) to make them "closed" (as in, you can't get out once you're in until you killed the boss) and add the sphere stuff.

I'd be really curious to see how you managed to heal all monsters in the vicinity when you die.

You and doudley release really interesting mods these last days, that's cool to see ^^

Cheers man :) Ha this mod was actually a whole lot of work (heh you can see by the version number :P). I'd love more people to give it a try, cause I've found it really increases the tension when I play.

Coupled with your crit mod, I've found it really fun.

*Update* Just added a separate menu for if you die in the first zone. You just click to quit the game without saving and try again from the start position.

You have to make a serious logicking for that :P

Try to look for how the game would know if the player is on MP or not...could be in a form of stat, if you have not found any, you can create your own stat that can tell your logic group instead.

haha yeah all for one and one for all kind of thing? I'm predicting that if i don't alter the multiplayer menu, then the portal just won't close, because the timeline I've set up will call on the mp version of the menu instead is that right? I guess im just trying to understand how it works..

I totally forgot about that, there are two res menus. Yeah, try implementing your changes on that too, or apply the difference to the single player layout, whichever easiest for you.

Ah yeah of course, you're right :D I don't need to make a custom layout anymore. I just added the map menu timeline to the res menu. One thing tho, in the ui/ingame menus folder there is a single player layout and a multiplayer one. I guess it'd work in mp if I added the extra logic that the singleplayer one needed to the mp one as well?

I'm not sure, how does random map menu closes portals in MP? Does the activated portal can be used by other players too? Or they have each own portal access?

I thought the portal get closed on resurrection menu's opening....the health check is not needed anymore, I think.

Could be a useful feature later on, reserved it somewhere for now. But without the debuff, this mod can be used for MP mode right?
