I have been thinking about steering my modifications for RWR in a new direction and into one single modification that i have more creative control over that is not influenced so much by the expansion of the vanilla game. I did not anticipate how large RWR would grow when i first started modding it and the way i chose to mod the game is too intricate and detailed for me to keep up with the expansion of content in the game as a whole including DLC's.
I like the concept of the soldiers at war mod and i will be developing this concept further in the future.
Most of my spare time is spent studying C# programming and the unity engine.
Modding RWR is my choice of a creative outlet where i can practice some things regarding game development.
Thank you for taking interest in my mods for RWR.
@fans of the mods
Yes i am still around, i have not updated the mod in a long time due to life's many distractions and i am not good at balancing work, life and entertainment.
Yeah, the mod needs an update. That's why the game crashes at 15% of loading. Currently unusable until the author updates the mod to match the latest version of RWR.
1. Downloaded this from workshop and crashes when it stops at 15% upon loading. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong?
2. What's the difference between this and Soldiers at War?
It is now contained as a self extracting archive, hopefully this will make installation more easier
Install over a fresh copy of RWR 1.70.3
Always backup your game installation
infantry_1.6_core.exe
extract to your RWR root directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RunningWithRifles\
Enjoy the mod, report back any bugs you find, all feedback regarding the mod is welcome.
The texture pack is being redeveloped and will be available shortly.
Anzac
Are you still working on this mod?
Are you going to work on a Pacific version and a coming Edelweiss version?
Thanks for your time.
The latest version of **Infantry** has been released on ModDB and the latest version of the texture addon pack has also been released
The mod has been patched to version 1.65 of Running With Rifles and now contains all the latest work that has been so far released for light infantry and heavy infantry on steam workshop
The overwrite mod has also been made compatible with all versions of infantry and soldiers at war on steam workshop
Remember to install over a fresh copy of Running With Rifles version 1.65
and make sure that the texture addon pack is installed after the core files if you are installing the detailed textures.
Install order is the following:
1. infantry_1.57_core.7zip
2. infantry_textures_1.32d.7zip
Have fun with the mod !
Patched to RWR 1.65
Feature:
-Radio call changed to S.A.W radio call
1.57g
Performance Optimisation:
-Smoke particle emmiters reworked to remove major system performance drain of 10 fps per smoke emmiter cluster,
two destroyed apcs on screen would cause a drop of 20 fps, this performance drain has now been eliminated.
Feature:
-Tank main gun exhaust smoke additional particle emmiter added
The version that is designed for the official invasion servers is over at ModDB
http://www.moddb.com/mods/infantry-mod-by-anzac-joe
Best that people wait until i patch that version up to the latest RWR 1.65 because it will not run on the official servers at the moment and will disconnect due to an incopatibility
I will be sorting that out later today
Light is designed to run with the original RWR demands for performance
Heavy includes all the high res textures and heavy system performance requirements
and what is the dif. between "soldiers at war" and "infantry"?
The mod will run on a DLC install of RWR, although the mod is not designed to modify the pacific DLC, this will come in the future.
1.57f
Feature:
-Detailed translating tracks for all tanks
Thanks for your support !
It is possible that Infantry on steam workshop may run its own track of development in the future retaining the vanilla game mechanics to a certain degree, i have not thought in depth about this yet. It is definitely a possibility.
Ah, I see.. Just feel that I loved the vanilla game mechanic of Infantry with all the audio and visual overhaul. I personally didn't prefer the realistic mechanic of SoW over the Vanilla mechanic. N feel that Infantry (audio n visual overhaul of vanilla gameplay) should get more content like new faction, but Appreciate the reply! Great mod, have run flawlessly so far, keep up the good work!
UK faction was made only for soldiers at war, i havent decided if infantry will break free from its vanilla roots and trace its own development or not, for now infantry is only an audio and visual modification to the vanilla gameplay

I posted a reply in the bug report discussion,
If anyone else is experiencing bugs, please report them in the bug report discussion and i will tackle them asap.
Bugs often appear on new patch updates when they slip through my pre-release bug test which is unfortunate although once identified will be rectified quickly.
Infantry has now been updated to the latest RWR patch version 1.63
Along with a new updated high visibility support call marker.

PS:
@iamjames007
Thanks glad to see you are enjoying the mod !
Today 11th February 2018 marks the day that i first launched **INFANTRY** on steam workshop as version 1.0
Over the past year the mod has undergone many changes and improvements, grown in size and grown in popularity with its fans, moved house to ModDB, ported back to steam workshop as an overlay mod and awaiting one last major update - version 1.6
The first file of the mod was laid down back in november 2016 and was a custom sound file replacement for the IMI Negev Machinegun, that one file turned into the overhaul mod that you see now today.
It has been a long tough 1 year for **INFANTRY** and myself for the hefty development over a year full-time, it was well worth it in the end.
A massive shout out to the fans of **INFANTRY** the fans of Running With Rifles and the devs who made an amazing game !
Best Regards
Your **INFANTRY** Modder
Anzac Joe
Glad you enjoy the mod !
Have fun !
