While yes, this was intended to be April Fools', I might look at nerfing her ability a bit in a later update (as a user option, so you can have the original behaviour as well if you want). Also, I'm not sure what might be causing that glitch there - it's not the first issue I've heard reported from granting a tech in this way so I'll have to look into it.
Also not sure if this always happens, but while trying this civ out I got a glitch where poppo stole a tech I'm currently researching, and it got stuck at 1 turn left for a while before I noticed and switched research to something else. When I finally did, somehow I had 150k+ science "saved up" (somewhat similiar to what happens when you use a Great Scientist with your current research project nearly done), which is enough to get me the entire tech tree. I tried to let a tech finish to see if it resets--nope, it doesn't, just subtracted the cost of the tech from the "stockpile".

I have the same problem too. When Poppo steal optics tech, units can't earn the promotion... Besides, it was same when i produced units after Poppo steal optics tech. :(
Thanks for that, I will fix that up so it's ready for when I update this next.

What kind of problems are you having when embarking units?

You could try that, but what you steal is randomly chosen, and the chance of stealing a technology should be in practice quite small, so it would be risky to try to pull that off as a strategy.
and then putting it in the mods folder. Just go to docs- my games- Civ 5- mods
