Friend: after unexpectedly failing the first attempt to solve this chamber, I was forced to once again admit that there are things complicated enough, that the only way to understand them is to analyze and decompose it into a big bloody State Machine chart, plotted on a piece of paper, like good old times. Before, only a small selection of puzzling things were subjected to such procedure.
The amount of thinking needed was insane and the logic was awesome
Here's our blind playthrough of this gem : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-QGdGOMH44
My playthrough https://youtu.be/m0qOJW8bqIs
I like how there's two ways to reach dot 3 - the obvious way that instantly gets you stuck, and the far, far more subtle way that lets you pass.
Would have been just as excellent if the exit was reachable from the ground, but unlike most cases where there's an extra step thrown onto the end of the puzzle, I like the exit being raised up. It's like a little encore to prove you really know your way around the map and how to use portals. (I did use the grated surface in the exit room.)
Finally we can get some sleep again.
I also love that you do this just with vanilla elements and skins. A few of the other "good" creators try to hide their puzzle behind different skins or elements, that you first have to learn, what is a bit strange if it is a mixed list with totally different creators in between. So very well done, you clearly have a talent for this!
Are you still considering remaking it? I agree with some of the comments below that the design is a bit grating-heavy and not very open.
I recorded the walkthrough. Here is a video .
Definitely, you are the one of the best puzzle creators in this game. Thank you! :)
Only complaint: the sightlines for the map are really grid-locked so it's hard to see parts of the map from other parts. Not very "open" in my opinion so we had to noclip a few times to see what was going on around the exit before we made a plan.
So it's not urgent anymore, but there will be others who will be grateful :-)
Anyway, great chamber again!
Regarding the final step(s), I'm pretty sure we need to find a way to replace the funnel by extending the bridge in order to make one player cross the goo. We see no way to maintain the bridge once this player crosses the jumping / momentum part.
Give us a hint at least.
Awesome map well done sir
