the problem is if you subscribe to more than the limit they dont give you any warning or error, it just does not download any more beyond the limit
perhaps this is the issue that you are having
in which case the only solution is to unsubscribe to some other items and then resubscribe to this item
real pain
i was thinking of changing this map to be a low gravity map so you can bounce around like on the moon or like in the matrix!

you have to run the game
you will see it download the map
when given the option go to open (not ranked)
then host a game, once in the tavern
got to custom maps and select the candy land level and press play i think
you have to be in the list of custom map and if this is the only custom map you have subscribed to then it will be the only one on the list.
and i did unsubscibe and back! now what?!
just press subscribe button
if you already did that run DD select Open, host a game, in Tavern select "Candy Land" custom map
if you already did that and it still didn't work
subsubscribe, then remove some other DD subscribed to custom maps, resubscribe

steam has a limit to the number of workshop items you can subscribe to at a time
unfortunately they dont tell us the limit, they dont give us a warning when we exceed it, but an workshop item beyond the limit that you subscribe to will not download at all. so if you are subscribed to a number of workshop items, you may need to subsubscribe to a couple of them and then try again. unsubscribe, subscribe, start the game, go to open, host a game, and then look for the map in workshop map list (custom map list)
workshop maps are only accessible form open
did you start the game and go to open and host a new game and then you should see it in the list of workshop maps
