im not saying you have to do this to your maps, but is it perhaps possible to make one of these map types but with completely vanilla or atleast custom textures? am i wrong? i probably am... im not a map maker or mod maker, for that matter...

Half Life Source is the Source Engine conversion from the GoldSrc Engine which the First Half Life originally ran on. Half Life Sources allows for textures and entities to be placed and operate within any Source Engine game, and since GMod runs on the Source Engine, I can port these entities and textures over for use, however with the requirement of Half Life Source needed to be Downloaded from the Steam Store and mounted appropriately into GMod.

Well, I mean similar in the sense that Xen is an endless void. Not sure if the Combine would use hovering structures there if rocks are lacking, but it's not outside the realm of possibility.

First one looks incredibly similar, especially similar to the upcoming v2 of this map. Not fully sure about the 2nd but Yeah, these look pretty good.

Here [thenebeskymuz.deviantart.com] is some artwork I found that looks much like the one you based your map on, and it seems to be based on this which also looks pretty good. Even though it's the Overworld, these concepts look much like Xen.

Well yes, I would say so. - As one's an older game and one's made in 2004. I'm actually planning to make a version which has BM:S Xen Textures from the mod, but i'm gonna have to find out how to get them.

Alternatively, you could experiment with normal HL2 ground/rock textures. Wouldn't say it really matters as long as it looks good.

If there's nothing wrong in adding new textures, I'd say the bigger file size would be worth it.

Additionally, if you use custom textures you could pack everything into the map so that one doesn't need Half-Life: Source in order to play it. It'd probably mess stuff like the NPCs that you've used in some places, but I think making the map look good and accessible should be a priority.

They don't contrast to one another, it's more of a balancing act between them. I like your suggestion, so I might experiment with that sometime!

Gonna be honest, HL2 textures against HL1 textures doesn't look good. Might I suggest using the textures from the Xen mod for BM:S?
