Currently rest of islands are just visual backdrop but I may expand to rest of islands in the future, the total for now is the current 8 crystals

You must defeat all the critters that spawn by the crystals

The forcefields go down once you beat them all

Don't set the amount of critters spawned too high via the little pad in the level if you want to complete the map quickly

There are 8 crystals total to fight for/ collect!

ooo right! yes I will have to think about how best to do that. I cant easily determine when to turn it on/off if I want to ensure you don't lose your hero dies. can't really predict when the hero might die!

Mana relatively scarce in map at present so that is why I made this design decision.

I will think of how best to work with this issue over time and post an update, or wait till the contest map upload feature works properly and just put the update in the contest map version.

u cant start the combat phase in this map. This means you can't use some hero abilities.

hee hee actually I started another map, a cave map, and it is going well but then I got distracted by coding my own game engine in Actionscript hee hee.

What exactly do you mean by "the waves problem" and a coold own timer?

@evernewjoy, the tip about the cords you used were basicly the opposite of what i was trying to use, and using said cords locations *aka lower left = min cords, upper right = max* i also had to check the *override overlord bounds* to get it to work... witch is odd... seeing as i was told NOT to have that checked... but hey... if it works... im happy.

Nice work, on the map, grats with all the work, and i got 2 comments, 1 can u fix the waves problem with a pad like the music changer with a cool down time, on it.2 (small challenge) can you make another map? this one looks almost done.

when you beat the map you will hear music playing and it will add a lot of mana to your bank :) If anyone can verify that this works for them please let me know!

@wtsfno I intentionally made it so overlord could zoom very far out, I thought some people might like that. I'd rather give the option and let you decide what to do :)

Looks good in overlord mode, but u might want to find how to limit how high u can move the over lord cam. and note, this map looks like its ready for the contest. This is one of the few that support overlord mode. The sad part is, u need to do a final play test, and see if u can actually beat the map.

@evernewjoy unless im mistaken the camera in overlord mode will not go through terrain, bsp brushes, and basicly anything a character cant go through. So if you set the min z for the height for the lowest point on your map +some *ya dont want them lookin right down with their face in the dirt* ya should be ok

Thank you very much everyone, and especially Simtim, for sending link that explains exactly how to setup Overlord support.

I've uploaded the file with the appropriate changes, the only thing I wasn't sure of was the lowest z value, so if you find you can't zoom down enough in z-axis with overloard please let me know.

Also please let me know if this change works properly in general.

has nothing to do with if it has a map or not... you have to set a series of cordinates... Min *X,Y* and Max*X,Y* and Min / Max zoom height. these cords are known as the overlord bounds. this tells the game that if a character is in overlord mode the camera cannot go past a certain point. The minimap isnt really involved.

evernewjoy, to get an idea of orverlord mode, try and look it up on youtube. Also, over lord mode uses the map and a view over head. The over heard view is blocked by the fact that u can only use the cam over the spawn area. Also i think u might need to nerf the lightning archers alittle. Also note, its common for maps to not work with overlord mode well. But this map should work well because it got a map.

Overlord mode is a skill that the summoner has *and also affects the jesters move tower ability* In the editor its in the world properties and if you search for overlord it will come up with 2 sections... http://forums.trendyent.com/showthread.php?70253-Overlord-Mode-in-Custom-Maps Tells a little about it... tho it seems to not like me or my maps =(

I am not actually sure how overlord mode works because I have not bought the expansions, therefore I also only have vague idea of how to add support for such in entire map :) Does it relate at all to where you can place towers?

I love the monster multiplier button!

I turned it no 12x and went back to forge. When I got back there were so many mobs i was losing lots of frames! I eventually killed them all :D

I also love the fact the mana does not disappear from mob drops which is really nice :)

Any change to get it so you can use overlord mode on the entire map instead of just the starting area?

nice, just note, might need to slow the flying arena alittle, and for the waves problem (the thing with combat, and buuld phase), can u just make a pad like the music changer for it that has 30 sec-1 min cool down?

Challenge Levels Added!

As inspired by NMNX I added different challenge levels, see top of description of this map!

Lemme know if anyone can handle the highest challenge level of 12x as many enemies.

Again note you can change challenge levels between crystal battles or waves in the flying arena.

(took about 20min to code, 1 hour to compile and upload ;) )

Man evernewjoy, you think of every thing, the arena was hard to get to, the spining crystals that spin whildly (before the tornado looking things), are alittle hard to get across. I had to use the sommoner to fly across, but still, the map really is fun. Keep up the good work.
and if any of you guys saw my last comment, there were 5 links to a win a game on steam thing, and well, the people deleted their comment.

I chose to let you keep your mana every time you die rather than have the hero abilities, but I may change that decision later, trying to dynamically add mana back after you die wasn't going so well hee hee.

nice job adding in with the crystals, keep going and hopefully the map will be great when finished. My only complaint is that you can't use some hero abilities durring a build phase, so the only weapon is attack with what you got.
also guys, be reasonable, dont post links for your self, you r basicly adveritizing, its also frowned upon.

critters will spawn when you try to go collect the crystal pieces, or wherever I choose to have them spawn, as that is easy to control, no need for doors.

Also I can set critters on patrol around the island until they see you
