P.S.: *WOW* - you added a lot of ships recently ( and good ones at that ) , congrats. :)
I think the most I've run was like 40 on an insane map. That was actually the game I startyed making WC ships on and it went on for like 6 months off and on.
Or am I mixing things up there?
As for mapsizes & player-count - yep, I set up some of my games too full, too - going back to my first save, I can only wonder why space's suddenly so empty... ;) ( did you ever try 70+ empires in a match? ;) )
And yes, I also heard the game-changes are quite substantial.
And yes, I just now read that about the different subfolder, too.
...when you say, "it tries porting and fails", does it mess with files in the original folder, or are you speaking of the files you copied over?
Probably best to wait as there are definately bugs in this new DLC...like old GC 2 bugs even...like not being able to delete ships or templates without a CTD. otherwise seems good...I suck at it though. It's a whole new game.
And making the Bengal a cargo-hull isn't a bad idea ( actually I quite like it ) - although story-wise, the Tarawa should be the cargo-hull, of course... ;)
Also...damn I wish there were more medium ships from first few games. All the capitol ships of the late game were as big as the confederaion for some reason.
Just mentioning so misunderstandings can be prevented better. :)
Good that you want to do them, ofcourse. :)
Link is here .
( Privateer 2 is too loosely connected, so leaving that one out makes sense, too )
Atm. I'm mostly playing other games ( partly because of waiting for the expansion - not being able to design my whole fleet at start is a bit annoying ) , but eventually I'd like to try the Nephilim at some point... though that point may be far off yet. ( those organic shapes aren't exactly easy to do right... :/ )
And since I just mentioned the Nephilim - are you going to do the WCP Confed ships, too?
I'll definately think about making those Kilrathi ships after I fill out Confed
And I don't want to speak bad of someone else's work, but... except for his Dralthi Mk.1 there certainly is a noticeable difference in quality to your ships, I think.
And admittedly I had forgotten that he also has a Hakaga in there - oops.
P.S.: Looking forward to your next ships. :)
warblefly41.45 already has a collection of Kilrathi ships. Who knows though.
Which ships are next? Would like to see Morningstar and Confederation-class (aka Concordia...) ;)
Waterloo would be nice for the transition to the really large ships...
Also, are you considering to do Kilrathi ships, too?
I would especially like to see the Hakaga with your level of quality - though that would likely prove to be a ton of work for you...
Anyway, these are just suggestions. :)
May have to do with the detection of if it's mirrored, I think...
And you may at least have to leave and re-enter the editor for the new part to show up, maybe even save and re-load.
Also, ships made from custom parts too seem to not like being saved as yet again a new part... Judging from my experience, at least.
Also, as for the conversion of ships between sizes:
When you are in the ship-editor and select multiple parts of your ship, there's an option in the bottom right of the screen, the tooltip of which reads "save as part".
So, select all of your ships' parts, then save the whole as single part, start a new ship with the blank box base, add your new part twice ( since auto-mirrored parts are not included in the new one ) and flip one of them over. Finished.
Also, as for WCnews, only thing i've come accross on there that's out of wack is the Exeter/gettysburge for some reason use the same pic. other than that they have every manual and insert up for download as pdf. Usefull for blueprints!
Also, as for sizes, keep in mind that in my current game I just got Large hulls. At my tech level my small ships get around 100 points inside, when I believe they started out at what? 50?
If you figure A-17 as a relatively early bomber and then consider the A-18 as a successor... with miconization all that stuff should fit.
But, to repeat, it's your decision. :)
Just one more (admittedly lengthy) note for the Crossbow:
Yes, it has less turrets, but it also is a bit faster and a LOT more maneuverable then the Broadsword, plus has more main guns, roughly the same amount of misiles and also slightly stronger defenses, I think.
Basicly, the turrets have been switched out for more engines/thrusters, some additional guns and a little bit armour/shields.
So I'd make it medium, too, but after all it's your decision. :)
As for the reported sizes ( personally don't 100% trust either the wcnews statistics nor my old book... ) - was there any ingame cutscene with both flying alongside??
Hm... from my old WC-book:
Venture - 80m ; Crossbow - 45m ; A17 Broadsword - 36m ; Sabre - ~24m ; Jalkehi/Gothri - ~25m and Kamekh 135m .
Not forgetting the height of the A17, this would put both it and the Crossbow well above normal fighters while still only about half as large as the corvettes...
So, maybe: Corvettes - medium; A17/Cb - small; and all other fighters - tiny ??
