Make sure you have all scripts installed properly. If you do and it's not working, your spouse may have gotten stuck somewhere in the world. So reload a save before you asked the spouse to move in and follow him/her to the lodge or use a MoveTo Player command.
From the description. You can get your items back through console commands.
Also on the previous version you had a couple of Cases in the throne room where I stored a Lot of armor, Ligth on one side, heavy on the other. When you updated I lost both. Whoich had a couple of artifact armors Savior's hide, and Ebony mail.
Also there was a small nightstand on one side of the bed that I stored all my books and spell tombs. One was removed and I lost it all. After loosing so much I restarted my game.
I would like to suggest Putting back in the throne the two cabnets. in the throne room, Or adding them to the hidden treasure room where you can store Light and Heavy armor seperately. Perhaps a couple more chests in the Master Bedroom, so that you can store items that you use more often then others. Like a Jewelry box, armor chest, etc.

1. Make sure your scripts are installed correctly
2. Make sure you've taken the note on the dead body along with the key
3. If it still doesn't work, reinstall.
