Sometimes Steam can do some weird ass stuff. Worth trying an unsub, restart steam, and then resub. If that doesn't fix it, let me know; worst case I can get you a physical version to put in your mods folder.

I tested it again by loading up a new save, getting 4 Houndmasters, and checking if the treats stack. All seemed to be working on my end.

I wouldn't say you're necessarily doing something wrong on your end, however, as this could also be a Steam issue. You could try unsubbing, restarting Steam, and then resubbing. If there's still something wrong, add me on Discord (maestersilvio) and I'll send you a physical version of the mod you can drop in your mods folder. Those generally have much better reliability than the Steam Workshop variants.

Make sure the mod is activated in the main menu for the save in question by clicking the blue hammer visible next to the save and selecting the empty box next to the mod in the mod menu -- will be checked when activated

Directly modding the file, unfortunately, won't result in your changes. You'd need to make a local (not public) mod with your changes and then compile it for your own personal use.

If you'd like, add me on discord (maestersilvio) and you can share the values you want with me. I'll make and compile a mod to send your way. OR, I can show you how to do it and you can have that knowledge to use for future modifications; totally up to you!

If this is a rude question/request please feel free to ignore it--but is it possible for me to download this mod and then manually change the stacking sizes myself for personal preference? I've never modded anything on steam before (or darkest dungeon) and this seems like exactly what I'm looking for but I want to balance the stack sizes to be somewhere in between this mod's values and vanilla's.

no problem, I was able to figure out the problem. I just had to go into the mods folder and just overwrite everything. now everything works

Nah, I checked all the possible options. all but this mod are working properly on new saves.

unfortunately, whatever I do through the main menu, the result is the same: the mod does not work on new saves immediately. I'll try to go through the prologue (with the passage of the first dungeon) completely without mods and add-ons.

That's very odd, the game hasn't received any update in nearly 2 years, and I double checked the mod files to ensure they're correct.

You can try adding me on Discord (maestersilvio) and I can give you a physical copy of the mod that you can try installing into your mods folder. At least that could mitigate any potential steam workshop issues occurring.
