So Im going to speak about other problems this campaign has: Gun enemies are almost non existing which can allow you to knife-rush some bits of the campaign, and when they do they are in really annoying possitions (long corridors where they see you but you dont)
Some levels (the last ones) were hard to take seriously because there would appear about 10 or more enemies wielding pipes out of nowhere and you could just kill them all with a single swing.
Im not going to talk about the story, because Im no expert writer or anything, but at moments it was confusing and predictable
It makes it hard to see the enemies.
The ranged enemies and the dogs are making the campaign frustraiting.
My next major campaign will be released very soon.
Sorry if this didn't live up to your expectations. It didn't live up to mine either, which is why I feel sort of bad this is my most popular campaign so far....my other ones are better in all ways :\
but sometimes i can't see...it's so dark...
that was fun and i really liked it !!
keep it up richard
The realisation of the character's past and actions was intended to be a shock, without being too graphic or blatant. All part of a horror atmosphere really, making us feel uncomfortable.
I can appreciate the attempts at crafting a disturbing experience within the stifling limitations of the editor (one hundred demons having a simultaneous epileptic fit, way cool) but you go overboard on the darkness and blood, when what really got me was the unexpected reality of Pearson's necrophilia/paedophilia. Perhaps something to keep in mind if you try another experiment like this one in future.
Anyhow, massive props for making a Hotline Miami horror campaign that's actually worth a damn. You've got my thumbs up. (neat level covers btw)
Yup, the levels are very dark too, perhaps I made them too dark. But, it isn't designed to be a comfortable experience for the player. I'm glad you had a good experience with it. It is only a mini-campaign, and quite small compared to most of my other works. Feel free to check those out, you will probably enjoy them.
Story-wise, it's starts out confusing and gets clear. Nothing specially good. It is a typical "horror game" vengeance story, and my only problem with it is the ending, where Richard appears. His appearance makes it sounds like there will be more after, ending here makes it abrupt. But in the end, I am playing a game which is supposed to scare me and let me murder people in gruesome ways, so I am not complaining.
The level design is a nice blend between HM1 and HM2. It is sectioned clearly like HM1 (i.e NO BLOODY WINDOWS), with long sight lines (e.g wide areas, long corridors) where enemies can spot you off screen. The difficulties are on the easy side, but levels still provide good challenge, and have amazing moments. One such moment would be a floor in the last level, where you melee fight a bunch of human grunts in a wide room.
