The trick here is, that I actually didn't set the rotation to activate at all. The propellers do all the work by themselves!

in the center of the boat with the automatic spinning block going forward and keels, then curved wall blocks nothing changed and exploded. so yeh

How'd you design the wheel? Currently, I know of three builds in the workshop with well working paddle wheels: This one, The Great Lawnmower (though it's not perfect there, since it's in the front) and Avraks' Gatsby (which is awesome and imho a must-see for every builder!). As the devs pointed out, you gotta make sure that the turning direction of the wheel is the same as that of the propellers. If not, the blocks will probably rip off and go through the hull - that can also happen, if you go full speed backwards with the Steamer.

So they actually have more resistance against the set direction, even if the mechanism itself isn't activated? That's interesting to know!

yes, its due to the rotation blocks wanting to go 1 way, going backwards (in this case) means fighting the natural flow of them so they just break as the forces are too strong

If you're already at it: Can you tell me why the propellers are going crazy when going full speed backwards? It's a bit of a strange behavior, but it should be fine about half speed.
