I have no experience of modding, so perhaps I need certain tools to open up and alter these things? =P
@Mad Orse - I will definitely look into it :)
All you have to do is import the xml files for the ethereal dwarfs, edit the part where it talks about "intensity" to a lower number, and the "ethereal-ness" of them will be reduced. Set it to 0 and they will look like regular characters.
@Frei - I can give you a full path to them when I get home but I'm currently working to see if I can get the gyrocopters to pull more from the faction uniforms table. Right now I totally agree they are a weird mesh of colours mixed with hints of your faction colour. I'll keep you poosted and update this mod when I finish it!
