To answer you questions i do build the ships hull first and try to get as many details in as possible. Then i do the interior and detail the exterior even more if needed. After that i usually paint the ship and setup all lcd's and airlocks and such. I mostly get my inspiration from myself and i just start building randomly.
SIDENOTE: You will find many empty ship hulls in my build world haha.
As for the inspiration part i would advise you to check deviant art or search for images on the internet.

How do you start to build a ship? Do you start with the interior or the hull? And where you get your design ideas? I mean your ship design is wonderful!

@kjappie3003 This ship has landing gears on the bottom so they will automatically lock onto the first thing that they touch. You have switch the landing gear lock in the main control seat of the ship.

Does anyone else have the problem that when you land it on a planet's surface it gets stuck?

Loving this ship! Really good and has beautiful detail! I'm currently working on a showcase video for this, thats right your being featured again! Question though do the projector have any fuction or is it just there for detail?

Best ship i've seen in a long time. When i close my eyes and think of a space ship this is what i see. This may sound strange but i finally know a good way to build ships now thanks for inspiring me! :D

Why not just launch tanks out of a cannon, if you need them that bad? That's how I do it.

ok, after i tried disassamblig the one ship two times and it didnt work, i just connected the two ships and dissabled the thrusters of one. unfortumately the other one couldn't lift it, propably by a few tons. but it is still an impsessiv ship.

(first of all, sry for the bad english) ) so, that means, you could spawn two ships on an planet, grind one, put the parts in the other ship and lift it :)
lets test it, i will write back, if i did it (if i find the time to do this)

It can lift a total amount of 5,000,000 kg in atmo. However, i tested this in creative.
This means that you will not be able to fly with full cargo on max settings in survival on planets.
