Well yeah, Sgt. Reznov used a similar machete ingame. Though the WAW model lacks some details and is tad bit anachronistic. This special survival machete in real life is called the Taiga Machete, used by Spetsnaz, pilots, etc. The blade itself has suprisingly many useful features, essentially a "Swiss army machete" in a sense. So I encourage looking up this blade for more info.
