Actually, it's fine. I could portal my way out... although portals aren't really used until the player reaches the source of the laser/energy ball.
Other players have my words: there are shortuts. The chambers of your series don't really feel like the original Portal chambers. Not even close. Too few players focus on good art direction, and sound as well. For example, why was I immediately nagged by GLaDOS instead of given a few moments?
you could have put nuro toxin on the floor, after droping it, to prevent walking to 3rd piston,
dropping the floor, so we could still reach the 2 doors & emitter,
but not the 3rd piston.
mind you, when recently making my 1st map & working on my 2nd,
I found ways of avoiding things & not playing the way I intended it to be played.
took me quite a while to sort them.
even then, not exactly how I intended.
thought the extra time spent, helped me learn & come up with ideas.
Slight bug -- in the ratman's den, the pistons' arms aren't actually solid, I kept just walking right through them.
