@James, no, as (almost) all CS:S weapon replacements require a script to mirror the viewmodel, and include one in the base mod. I have the edited mod with my icon in my Dropbox; I can give you a link if you send me a friend request.

None of the mods lock you away from getting achievements. Some scripts are completely unjust, like those "insane" scripts that up penetration and damage by completely nonsense amounts, making every weapon chop a Tank in half in a few shots on Expert. With "Unlimited Ammo" mod, you can solo The Passing on Expert Realism once you're armed with the M60, netting an easy achievement.

And I repeat, when you create a local server with sv_consistency 0, you set the game's rules, be it "population" (types of Infected spawned, from Common to Armored) or weapon scripts. Still, differences in rate of fire for the scripts can cause weird audio glitches, so you should convince your friends to subscribe to the same scripts.

Word. I understand. Payday 2 has a similar approach. You can mod whatever up until it affects other people's gameplay experience. No worries. I'm just concerned that if I always choose Local Game, a) can people still join my game from the internet/general public (assuming I set consistency to 0)? and b) am I still able to earn achievements playing this way?

As I've already compared with soccer/basketball, custom weapon scripts only work on your own host (local server). It would be unjust if you could join a game and ruin everyone's fun with a shotgun that does 2000 damage per pellet and fires 100 pellets per shot, while everyone else is having completely normal ones. Only the server (the host) sets the rules for weapons and the like.

Think of the scripts whether they would change gameplay aspects for everyone or client-side only things.

Yeah the only way it worked for me was to create my own game change settings, and choose local server. Since I'm not 100% what that actually does I'm gonna have to unsub for now. Still great concepts though!

I see. Thanks for explaining, I was unaware how Valve handles add-ons. I am subscribed to a non-stat changing icon also; when I open up L4D2 I went to Addons menu. It was a conflict so I unchecked the non-stat changing add-on, to test this one.

To be clear, if I add sv_consistency 0 and I create an online game, I can use this mod/stat-changer and other people can play with me? But they will also have the changes applied to their game?

I'm used to Insurgency which is pretty generous, you can have scripts/theaters with custom settings, such as change the FOV of the player, and you can use it when you join a server. You use your own settings like that unless the server either enforces sv_pure or the server modifies that particular script/setting, in which case the server's modification supersedes yours.

Actually, for playing with friends, it's better for everyone to use the identical scripts, in order to avoid visual or audio glitches.

@N8, the scripts only work on your own host, as they are server-side. There is a version without the stat changes in the description for online play. You can't join a soccer match with a basketball and start throwing it in the basket and call it a win. When you host for friends, you'll have to disable consistency check by typing

sv_consistency 0

in the console. This will allow people with scripts or HUD icons join your server, but they will use whichever scripts you have installed, but the HUD icons remain client-side. It's easier if you add

+sv_consistency 0 +precache_all_survivors 1

to your launch options in the properties, so that you won't have to type it every time you launch the game. The second one will prevent your game from crashing when you host for friends a campaign with L4D1 survivors.

LOL True dat. Now I feel silly for not noticing.

So I was subscribed to this and when I joined someone's game, it didn't work. Actually, it like half-worked. Which was more surprising according to te description.

When I pulled up the uzi, it said 50 rounds. I immediately pressed reload and it had a weird glitchy reload animation. The ammo count briefly changed to 30, but then it reverted back.

The model worked, and the actual icon worked, but not the mechanics of it.

Now from reading the description, will this work if I create an online game and people join my game? Also, will they now have modified uzi, as well? Or lastly, does it block anyone who doesn't have this same mod from joining my game?

Sorry for what may seem like obvious questions. I'm used to modding from insurgency so I'm wondering if this works similarly or different.

@N8, if you're using the HMRiH one, then it has a solid stock.

That, and you must understand that I never use anyone else's icons. I either screenshot the model in the viewer or draw the gun in Flash.

Would you mind bundling your script stat changes with Nebeberkadbezzar's icon? It more closely represents most of the MP5s on the workshop (I'm subbed to the one ported from NMRIH). If not, I understand. I can always tear apart the vpk myself. I'm just brand new to the addons so I'm not sure right off the bat what to look for. Забавно, в этом рескине нет иконки, хотя в оригинальном моде была. А скрипт ннннада? Ну там, 40 патронов, выше скорострельность, ниже урон.

Еще раз: иконку для мода на оружие из КС:С нужно (почти всегда) встраивать в сам мод. И потом, я никогда не "копирую чьи-то иконки", всегда делаю их сам под конкретный мод.

В мод на МП5, как и многие другие замены оружия из КСС, встроен скрипт. Просто так сделать иконку не получится, нужно "вскрывать" оригинальный мод.

for me the mod is broken it show a thompson hud istead of the mp5 but the script work i tried everything re istall and delete the vpk and install it again nothing happend and still show the thompson icon
