Why only scuffs? Why not cracks from explosive damage and bullet holes suggesting they were shot at by Slugthrower rifles?

Why not rebels using paintovers or modified versions of the armor to better suit their battle strategies?

hmm, i can see that idea working. though no doubt they had other sources of armor, like mandalorian clans, seperatist bases for weapons and ships, and others.
