Just like the dude below me, same warning, with a line after causing a crash, when you load a save from cold boot where this smoke is applied on the tactical map. For some reason, this didn't crash when loading from in game last night, but does now (after booting pc up).

Unfortunately I have disable it to get my legendary save to work.

Hi do you if there's a way to added 'shooting out of smoke penalty' when in smoke, to make more down to earth, as normally used for concealment rather than something you stand in when shooting for obvious reasons :)
Any ideas ?

Nope. Still not working after resubbing, bring it above LW2 in the load order and regen'ing the MyDoc .inis... Welp, there goes those epic cinematic shots firing into the smoke...

Alright... Been getting pink smoke this past while. Only smoke related mods I have is reliable smoke and Superheavy Battlesuits LW2. Playing on LW2. I'm currently using the Alt. Mod Launcher to set up the mod load order and I have Grey Smoke near the top of the load order, below LW2 to try to overtake anything that's preventing it from working.

@Spunk: it might also be affecting "smoke" grants Concealment. interestingly, I actually still see a mix too, heh. you'll see a puff of grey before it goes pink again.

My problem seems to be coming from a custom class, I think Grenadier and Gunner separation mod, which gives the Grenedier a free smoke grenade, which comes out as pink. When just using the regular smoke grenade on one of the soldiers, it comes out as grey. Which is fine, not a big deal, I was just trying to identify the source of the problem. Good mod :)

I'd like a configurable color option, how feasible is that? Can you also tweak the alpha in a config file setting? Dark blue would look great and it would also help on winter maps. And marine blue is the king of colors.

honestly i had no idea how much the pink smoke bothered me until i saw this. it's a small detail but it still makes the game better. great job!

probably has to do with software-ergonomics and with the players perception
with the pink way, the grenade's gameplay altering effect is easier to differentiate from the map's standard environment particles
still, I can't believe no one made a mod like this in the last 6 months, great job :D

You need the SDK (beware, 65GB Download). It redistributes ModBuddy, and the UE 3.5 Editor, an XCOM 2 specific version of the Unreal Editor. After installing both manually (refer to the Documentation in XCOM 2 SDK/Documentation), start ModBuddy, and from there, start the Editor.

Grenades are somewhat complicated. A Grenade is a Weapon that has a Projectile . Additionally, the blinking is an AnimSet , and all three have references to the Particle Systems . To replace them, you need to copy them over all over to a new packages, set all the references right, change the particle systems to a different color. To tell the Grenade to use the new Archetype , I edit the template after it's been created in the code.

Also, when the smoke is actually in the world, two more particle effects are used. The references are pulled from the config in this case.

You can open other mod's packages and source code to see how it's done.

Great to hear! Could you tell me how exactly you did this? Is a special program required or do you just need the ModBuddy - in which case where do you find the values?

(I simply want to know because I'd prefer to do the changes I want myself instead of requesting you to for example make the XCOM plasma dark blue - unless you feel like doing that and uploading it anyways...)

Already had slowdown issues when soldiers fought in smoke, the pink got annoying.

That is in fact what I did here - create a copy, modify the colors, tell the game to use the copy.

Yes. I'm more of a scripter, so I won't be able to create very good particle effects :(
