It's not supposed to separate rooms. It's embrasures. For defensive purposes. With holes for air. So a room would default to "outdoors" anyways.

Just tested it, apparently has the same issue as all the other embrasure mods since 1.3; does not separate rooms as walls would.

The embrasures don't seem to work. I tried to face off multiple centipedes with a wall of embrasures + 10 well-armored colonists + turrets, and it was a disaster. The shots from the centipedes hit supposedly well-covered colonists with every volley, and the rounds from the inferno cannons weren't even stopped from passing through + detonating inside the pillbox.

It doesn't seem like there's actually 70% cover effectiveness, I have far better success just taking cover in doorways.

Do these embrasures act like proper walls, as in, separate rooms, prevent heat exchange (or limit it like vents) and the like?

I'm using a fairly limited modlist.

Seems like the embrasures are doing pretty much nothing for me. Reloaded a raid several times and the first raider just one shots each of my 3 colonists. The raider is using an LMG and has 8 shooting skill. I have barbed wire around the embrasure so they raider cannot get against it; hes just headshotting my colonists from like 10 tiles away.

Using CE fast track, maybe a conflict there?

I use both slits Embrasures and use ED-Embrasures, I have no raider issue of them NOT trying to fire at me. They and even the mechanoids still shoot me, even ranged animals (alpha animals)
sure this makes some animals or raids that dont have ranged much easier...but
A: this is realistic
B: we did this back when we had bows and arrows so its not a new idea.
C: the game does send some very unfair raids more often then not, so ill take this advantage.
D: Doors hp is not as high as walls normally, so they can still overrun your Embrasure defense area just as often as not. especially if you dont build fall back defense spots.
E: back in siege defense times a common saying was, "it takes 10 men to 1, to take a castle by force."
F: Raiders with guns STILL shoot me guys (this is at all those claiming they dont)
I have lost a colonist or two to bad luck still. (heads blown off)

@Koro: i got you... i´m up for a new round rimworld but the embrasure mods are the one thing that makes or brakes it... if you don´t have them a random "now you die" raid fucks up your 20 hr colony in 10 seconds and if you have them even a 50 t-rex rampage doesn´t scare you more than a mosquito... decisions, decisions... =P

My heart is torn by this mod. On one hand I love it. On the other, I always end up making pillboxes. Like, really good ones. And the AI doesn't know what to do, so I suddenly disabled raids. :(

Is there a version where ALL embrasures are passable? I know it's stupid and unrealistic, the AI gets really confused and just dances around waiting to get shot by the pawns they can't reach without breaching a wall.

the original is from a very early alpha. all of the embrasures mods are based on it.

Is it supposed to break the tech tree like it does? Do I have a bad mod conflict, or is that actually an issue here? It overlaps with other techs, like tree sowing and beer brewing.

I was testing out embrasure mods, and noticed the same issue with another. A commenter there says Expanded Doors seems to cause a problem with embrasures. Any of use you using Expanded Doors?

I just tested it and it works. are you expecting the pawns to just shoot thorgh the wall or have you drafted them?

While using this version, I can't see to shoot through any of the embrasures? Unless only turrets are allowed to shoot through.

I think embrasures should act as open doors with respect to temperature regulation. It doesn't make sense that they make the room be considered "outside". Have you seen embrasures in real life? They definitely would keep some of the heat inside if someone would lit a fire in the room.

Luis, the only way that works is if you add shutters that can be opened and closed. Embrasures are basically windows without the glass in them. In real life, air conditioning would fail in such a room as well.

Now my real comment: I love this mod and won't play the game without it. My bunker design is a three by three space enclosed by embrasures, with a layer of sandbags right inside it. There's enough space for two pawns to stand within (the door doesn't get a sandbag layer.) I just took out a scyther using a bowpawn and a bolt action riflepawn, and didn't even take injuries.
