Tergiver, I finally got the push to Steam working again. You should get an automatic update download. I'll be checking on here every 30 minutes or so in case there is a problem.

I think I got it fixed. Been awhile since last pushed one of these and using a different Visual Studio so I don't wanna throw it out late and then find out in the morning it broke for everyone, so going to setup the release tomorrow night.

Tergiver, I was able to recreate the problem. The data store isn't being marked dirty unless waypoints are added/removed or sufficient play time passes. If you change the name, then create a new user waypoint the name gets saved. Surprised this has gone 2 years without notice. I'll try to squeeze in time to get this patched sometime this week.

The names of my user created waypoints (CTRL+F1) are not being persisted. Every time I load the game, all of my user waypoints revert to being named "User Waypoint". I change them back again (there are only four right now), exit the game (waiting fully for it to exit on its own), then start it back up to find them reverted.

This is single player, steam client.

Thanks for the quick reply! I managed to find the correct app id and got everything working!

For future ref to other people, there is a handy PDF in steamapps\common\FortressCraft\64\Default that explains most of this stuff.

Thanks for pointing out that the linux server is not beta anymore, I will change that!

It's not possible to change a mod Id, and you wouldn't see it here anymore at this URL. I think it's because you're using the FC Linux dedicated app ID instead of the main FCE app Id. Trying the mod download using app Id 254200.

P25 has been released and the release branch for Linux dedicated server updated so you don't need to pull from beta anymore.

Update: for some reason the app ID is not the same when downloading workshop items or updating the app itself:

I can update the game with
./steamcmd.sh +login anonymous +force_install_dir ~/fortresscraft/ +app_update 443600 -beta linux_server_headless validate +quit

And download this mod using
./steamcmd.sh +login myUserName +workshop_download_item 254200 735239209 +quit

Now this part seems to work ok, but on my machine the game still says "This workshop mod cannot be run on this server" when I try to enable it before joining.

Hi! I am trying to install this mod (thanks to the latest update removing the in-game GPS) from the workshop on my linux dedicated server. I am using steamcmd, but something is amiss.

The command ./steamcmd.sh +login myUserName +workshop_download_item 443600 735239209 +quit returns:

...
Logged in OK
Waiting for user info...OK
Downloading item 735239209 ...
ERROR! Download item 735239209 failed (No match).

Any help is appreciated!

This thing is great for helping make sure you can find stuff aside from your CPH when doing a long range trip :) I tend to get quite turned around myself when I end up going super far out exploring and such so this adding the ability to make custom waypoints is quite useful.

You can edit the waypoint names on user created waypoints by clicking on the text. For external mod machines the name is set by the creating entity as these waypoint are created on machine load and not saved/stored. In the case ESMS, planting a sign on the extractor sets the name.

'GPS Tool' was in the inventory on making it, is now in the suit inventory. the 'Time/Sun Angle on Left and X/Z added to middle bottom of HUD bar' also showed once maed. but all i did is make the GPS Tool and move it to the suit inventory.

Did you make it? Is there not a item in inventory named "GPS Tool"...ignore the position indictors on the top right of HUD bar...that is vanilla. Mod GPS tool will have Time/Sun Angle on Left and X/Z added to middle bottom of HUD bar.

You said you just made the tool...you would have had to have used the mfg plant machine to do that...the machine that initially comes attached to the CPH

Need output log for that. it's Left Control-tilde not left contorl by itself. You need to make and posses the tool at the mfg plant in order to do anything.

Left Control, Left Control F1 and Left Control V are not working.
even holding the tool in the hotbar and left clicking on it isn't gaving the popup. left clicking just puts a waypoint down.

You can still use this mod...my coordinates will appear below the location once you build the tool and put it in the suit inventory. To enable DJs in-game GPS you must build the railgun which requires a Patrreon to get the community DLC key or purchase of the upcoming Adventure Pack DLC.

The desciption above under "Update 4/1/2018" and the handbook both say Left Control ~ for the popup and Left Control F1/Left Control V for creating user waypoints on the fly. These only work if the tool is constructed and placed in Suit Inventory. At this point I can probably remove the old description.

The default keys don't seem to actually be the defaults. How do I find what keys this mod is using? Also the information in game in the H menu is completely different from the information in this description.

charles - With the tool in the hotbar? I can add a configuration option. If you just need to check distance the unmodded way to do that is faster, just hit M to switch to the scanner and right click on the block. The missing delete button is a bug so I need to patch that.

Is it possible to get the old functionality back? I loved the ability to just point at a block and click it and see the distance. Now I have to open up a window to see the distance, which makes it harder to build. Also, now I am unable to delete any of the waypoints I set, so I just have an ever growing list of waypoints.

Loved this mod until today... *Note*- I still do love it! Made base planning and lift building a breeze. Had to throw away my GPS tool in game for the time being... When Im clearing an area with my build gun beam, or building turbines, I generally hold CTRL while moving around to build to me... Never noticed before that I did it until today, I get the GPS menu popup. Which is cool, I have no issues changing an XML file, but may I suggest changing the default binding so that most wont have to figure out how to if they run into the same issue.

Removed dev cheats to seperate mod...what was supposed to be less of a hassle ended up being more of a hassle.
