By default Tier 9 ships does "NOT" add compat to "ANY" extra addon races.

It is not too difficult todo though. I added support for the Avali race.

Hello there! I'm working on a mod that'll allow players to select their own ship - really easy actually, but not the point.

While I've always been content with tier 8 (or even lower), I imagine there'll be people that want big ships. Could I include the tier 9 and 10 options from this mod in there? Full credit will be given, of course.

A simple mod made by a friend to fix BYOS problem that forced get quest in finallytask super reward bag

I noticed that there seems to be no way to prevent players who use BYOS (or FU BYOS) from accidentally talking to the captain at the end of the game and upgrading to a ninth-level hull
Once this is done, the image and the air wall will overlap each other making the shipworld chaotic

Having said that last bit, however, if anyone wants to correct my errors with this mod, say, by providing actually decent ship designs or by fixing the bugs I haven't bothered to push fixes for yet, let me know and I'll see about incorporating your work or even granting access to the workshop page.

@Cosmonaut Sloth: As for vanilla ships in custom races, unfortunately that is not the case, though patching them is easier for such races as you don't actually need to design new ships. Ship upgrades are defined *per race*, and using vanilla ships doesn't negate the need for this. That, and some races don't actually use vanilla ships so much as define new ships that are copies of the vanilla ships, which is somewhat poor practice in my efficiency-focused coding ethos.

I have, of course, been unreliable in updating this mod, but ultimately, as modding is purely volunteer work done as a hobby, updates will occur whenever I darn well feel like it.

@Cosmonaut Sloth: To be clear, this is an adaption of an earlierm abandoned mod. The Tier 9 ships are not my work; I simply ported them past a major change in format. I did however design the Tier 10 ships, though my work is perhaps of questionable artistic quality.

You are correct that custom races are not supported, though it would be more correct to say they're not supported *natively*. Patches can be made, and indeed have, such as the Avali T9/T10 ships, which are far better than my lame programmer art. You are accurate in describing how custom races are handled by the game, that is to say, how they are not handled.

SingABrightSong had to manually create the tier 9 and 10 ships. That's why custom ships don't work, like the ones for custom races (which is why most custom races don't work either).

It's probably as big of a hassle as doing it for custom race ships, and is most likely related, due to them all being non-vanilla ships that Bright didn't create tiers for, which is why it's probably not really a bug.
I don't know much about making mods for Starbound, but considering the information that this mod most likely uses, like ship type..
I wouldn't be surprised if you ran into a problem by upgrading. Upgrading a custom ship to tier 9 is probably like telling the mod to turn "???" into a "tier 9 ???", which it has no idea what the hell is.

Also, IIRC, Bright has stated numerous times that this doesn't work with custom ships/races (although it might work with custom races using vanilla ships, but don't quote me on that one - it's been a while)

I haven't seen anyone chatting much here, so I'll leave a comment here about my findings on this mod, specificly if it works with modded ships (for me, it's a modded ship for a modded race).
I'm unsure about it working with modded races, but I am very sure that it DOESN'T WORK with modded ships. Instead of doing what I thought it would do with modded ships with no tier 9 and/or 10 ship sprites (only increasing crew capacity), it softlocks my game after upgrading and teleporting to my ship. Please fix this issue.

I wanted to have a floran ship as a hylotl. there is a way to do it without mods in vanilla and I had that but then I upgraded to this mods tier and it reverted me back to the hylotl ship (I didn't back up so I am biting the bullet there) but is there a way to have this mods tier ship from a different race other than your own?
