It worked at time of last update.Guys this was the First/Only option once upon a time. Now there are others. I am not going to update any of my Mods for games I have not played for years.

I am going to get it working one more time and then it is being archived for good next time it breaks.

@argon As per the description "Each book only takes around one fifth the time to read."
I don't remember if this mod works tbh, it's been a while, but there are other options.
Also, 1/5 is faster than 1/2.

Last update for this one. Hope it works out fine.

In addition, the reading animation is destroyed with it.

As far as online goes, I don't think so. I'm trying to use it now and I don't particularly notice a difference, especially if it's supposed to be 1/5th the time.
On top of that I think below author stated they were working on updating it.

Working on updates for my mods these were written a long time ago so I will likely update them one more time for the road then someone else can have it

this mod makes reading not have any animations for me

Playing on Build 41, this mod currently doesn't stop you from reading a skill book level that you can't read.
Example:
You're level 1 Cooking.
You find "Cooking for intermediates" which is for level 3-4.
Reading the book, your character will spam something along the lines of "This is too complicated for me", where in vanilla it would appear once and the book will not be read.
The mod will continue reading the book, though.
If you finish the book before unlocking level 2, you will not get a boost and will be unable to re-read the book for when you unlocked level 2.

Mod title on Steam says "Mod Template," instead of "Faster Reading++" (or +++ ? Anyway, incorrect title)

Now updated. This particular mod updates \media\lua\client\TimedActions\ISReadABook.lua. I would rather make many little mods than one great big mod. The way it does the "Math" is to change the 1 minute it takes to read a page and turn it to 0.2. Any othe rmod that uses this file will break this mod as mods in this game are basically overides not merges.

My mods are rather old at this point which I apologize for. I need to update both this and Starting Points++ which the Devs shut down probably for becoming non compatible

Yes I found that anything that modifies anything that a mod intends to change completely messes up the mod, In short, only have 1 mod that affects things running at at time, due to unforseen compatibilities with other mods of the same nature.

it still feels really slow. do book renaming mods affect the mod? like, a conflict of overrides or something? maybe it's supposed to be that slow but it's still vexatiously long.

You realize unless you are playing on realtime the default timescale is set to 24 times (1 hour in game=1 day) faster? Those 3 seconds IRL are 72 seconds in game. Unless you are playing at a different time scale (at least 6 hours/day which is 4 times faster) then that would make sense.

This change works in conjunction with that perk.

@DrunkenTee 3 seconds = 220 pages read at 3 sec per page = 660 seconds = 11 real minutes. However unless you have a trait or something for reading, it's more like 7 seconds per page which equate to 1540 seconds = 25 real mins of idle time. With a variety of players reading and AFK = servers where people can't sleep. Faster reading is nice.

reading 1 page in like 3 seconds.. makes you feel like an idiot? Can you read like 220 pages in 660 seconds which is 11 Minutes and you can remember everything? ;D but still ty for making me wait less

Would it be possble to make another mod that increases reading times by maybe double or triple at most? 5 times seem excessive. Great idea and I would definitely use with that change.

i totally agree :), and because of that im so kicking this into my mod load order :P

same goes for me lol... if i had to learn how to set up a dead-fall trap or a jury-rig a gas genny, i would literally speed read to get it done XD

If you can't read then the book is no use at all. Very useful book!

Honestly, what's the point of the Fast Reading perk then? This mod completely trivializes that perk, and makes Slow Reader just free points with no downside...completely unbalanced.

A nice little mod. Does what it says on the tin. It would be nice to see recipes learnt from reading too.
