Laidlaw, the main writer for the Half-Life series, somehow goofed when it came to his own creaton?
The notion that 1998 is the year in which the Black Mesa Incident occurred has already been retconned by Laidlaw himself, alongside the belief that Gordon's first day at work is on the same day as the Incident. May 16th, 200X is the established date in which the Black Mesa Incident occurs.
In the official Half-Life timeline, Half-Life takes place in the 90s, or around 1998 to be specific. So me thinks Laidlaw goofed
