My last 2 comments are based on informed comments from other players.
I myself don't really understand what happened. Just copypasting from there to here in case it may help the author an other subscribers like me.

Should you wish to update the mods you use, follow the guide below.
Regarding the changes in May's update that affected plenty portrait mods.I found this advice elsewhere. I'm posting it here in case it helps:

In mod/common create 2 new folders portrait_sets and portrait_categories, each should have a .txt file speciesname_foldername, this is in addition to the species_classes folder

species_classes - only required when making new modded categories (ie not human, mamalian, etc.)
delete everything in this file except:
classname = {
archetype = ""
possible = ""
graphical_culture = ""
move_pop_sound_effect = ""

speciesname_portrait_set - Syntax
speciesname = {
Species_class = |speciesclass| (vanilla or modded)
portraits = {
"|portraitgroup|" (quotes required, found in mod/gfx/portraits/portraits .txt file under portrait_groups
}
}

speciesname_portrait_categories - Syntax
speciesname| = {
name = |speciesclass|
sets = {
|portraitgroup| (no quotes)
}
}

I've read in other mod's chat explanations for what the patch did to many portrait mods.

The way Stellaris handles portraits and groups for selection in the menus changed, so the mod won't work for anybody playing 3.12 and up. To save Pants_Doe the tiniest bit of time if they read this - the vanilla files you'll want to refer to for the changes are in new folders called portrait_sets and portrait_categories.

Is this mod getting an update? Personal fave of mine having this in game hope it will.

Wonder why they wont show up in my game. Every other custom faction that I've added does. Even ones that havent been updated in a long time.

Thats weird. It says this file is incompatible with Stellaris but it never did that before

Maybe someday you can make the mod "space hunks" (Super fit men begin to conquer the galaxy so they can show off their abs) I dont think i would use it myself but for the girls.

Works great, but can we get a machine version. It absolutely drives me crazy that you can't simply pick any portrait you want for machines (not your fault btw.)

Click it as many times as you like and it does nothing. This is the ONLY portrait mod which does this for me. Which is why I desubscribed from it again.

The Babes name list has several dozen planet names. When naming the planet, you have to click the dice icon in the upper right corner of the dialog option.

I used to use this mod back in 1.3 or 1.4 I think. But stopped when I couldn't use the "auto-name feature". It just did nothing. To my dismay, even being updated to 1.8x... you STILL cannot randomly name planets? Why this mod only and no other portait mods?

There's no easy way to add or remove individual portraits. I don't really like that one either; I'll replace it.

is there anyway to remove specific charcter portraits from your mod. Dont get me wrong i love the mod but that one asian chick with the wierd hat. . . i just dont like it so i was wondering if i could remove a file or something to remove her and then still run the mod without issue? just curious

The best way to look for examples is to see the files of downloaded mods you already use. They'll be in your Steam folder, for example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\281990\

ok cool sorry hope I didnt come off as demanding, this update killed my mod I am working on. lastly I cant for some reason add any new portraits to my current mod so I scrapping it and remaking it what code lines do I need to have in order to add more portraits to a species. since you have the knowledge on these matters. :) thanks again for a wonderful mod bro

Unfortunately there's no easy way to add portraits, and I've had a hard time finding images that fit theme and background (upright, facing viewer, without lots of props or posing).

Nice mod. Are you going to add more graphics to this collection, or is there a way for us to do that?

Now appears in separate Babe species, allowing people to select the portraits for any custom race. There's a bug apparently on Paradox's side which changes the name of Mammallian city and ship into Babe, but everything appears to work fine.

I haven't gotten that crash since before fixing for 1.3, and I'm able to modify all forms of empire creation, on custom and base empires.

The crash-out on selecting 'city appearance' with this mod active is still present.

Yup! Updated for 1.4, though it still has the problem of not appearing in Humanoid portrait list.

There's more trouble than this. With this mod active, editing a race and selecting the city type option causes a crash-out. Why? I can't say.

Too bad, this mod https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=741930256 required you to play its race to get ships, and I cant change the boring Empire into babes.

Making a new species category requires changing all the references in the mod away from Humanoid and adding a localisation script for it. It comes with its own bugs right now. I'm waiting on a fix from Paradox, hopefully.
