Very annoying. I don't want to spend a lot of time on this (haven't played in years now), and I can't see any easy/immediate way to fix the problem. If I took away the text box so that it was a regular portrait for the workers, it would then be very unclear on the species graphics selection page what you were actually picking.

Looking at how ordinary humans work now, it appears that there's just no variation at all in the image that appears for the management tab, they're all just the default guy. What a stupid step backwards.

All right, got it working mechanically, but I see that the text in the portraits for selection is pretty badly off-center - guess they must have changed those dimensions around at some point. Gotta find something to convert pngs to ddses again...

Huh, steam seems to be very unreliable about showing me notifications of comments here. I haven't paid attention for a while, obviously. But I'll see about installing stellaris again and updating this...hopefully they haven't changed too much around.

For those wondering the source of the portrait shift issue, it seems to occur when your version of humanity gains a psionic-based trait. I have no clue how to fix it, but tbat seems to be the source.

How does this effect the gender selection in empire creation? I see there's a selection for all male/female/indeterminable/default within empire creation now that isn't just for leaders. (I don't know when this was added)

Yes, male and female choices limit the entire population. To have simply male or female leaders while the population includes both, there's a leadership policy.

Does Male for example mean that the leaders AND the population will be all males? Or only the leaders? For Diverse - White I guess the population is diverse, while the leaders are White. Thank you

But that's the intended purpose of the leader gender restriction policy. If you want the population to be monoracial and monogendered, you're intended to pick the single-gender portraits.

No, I mean if I select portraits of white, middle east, Asian, Black, (not using single gendered portraits by you) and gave them gender restrictions (from the vanilla game), the population still have both genders (while the leaders are monogendered). it's just a bit of improvement can be done.

Ah, I did put those portraits in. I don't think I really understand what you're asking for, then. You're using secondary species, each an opposing mono-gender, and the populations are mixed...? But that would be exactly what you'd be looking for when making separate species for each sex, right?

The game rule don't allow using the same phenotype for secondary species, and also species with the particular portrait (and name) can be merged with each other into subspecies,they are useful sometimes, so I suggest this. And I think it's more fitting for the game setting and avoiding irregular situations.

You already gave single-sex single-race portraits. I just suggest that the gender restriction function provided in game since the new updates should be able to having effect on the population of single-race but two gendered phenotypes. So it's also possible to use them to create single race, monogendered population in case we need it. Currently I found in such case the leaders will all have the right gender but the populations are still mixed.

Yes, that's the intended behavior of gender restrictions...hm. Your suggestion here is probably that it's lacking the totally specific, single-sex single-race populations. I guess that's so? Can't remember if I had that in the past or not.

That was what the other guy wanted, too. Or, he said it as INCLUDING the legacy portraits, but maybe doing it as another version would make more sense.

I see now you switched for new humans potraits and it work flawlessy with them, but you could possibly make a version with the old ones? In the new one they just blended all the earth ethnicities skin tone and there is nearly any differences lol

Yeah, I see that. Didn't realize that the base game left both sets in. Issue is just that the doubling of choices of including both myself would be kind of ugly, like 32 humanoid choices or 2x however many I have right now.

When I disable the mod however then I see both the old and new portraits.
