I don't agree with the negative comments, surely the whole idea of Empyrion is to customise ships to your liking! No drill? Add one and don't be a ♥♥♥♥!

This does not move (have negative lift), so had to replace some thrusters to M. Nice design though. You could add more pictures including the statistics. Thanks.

Wonder if with a few mods this can be a Auto Miner protection type base.

Protect the auto miner and you can pack it up when you dont need it anymore.

At first i too thought this thing would mine for me and i could just go along for the ride. Then i read some posts and figured out what it was. It is pure genius! I threw 2 slightly larger thrusters on 2 opposing corners to give it more lift in higher gravity. As well i swapped out the stock directional thrusters and added RCS to give it a bit more speed and control, otherwise this is great. I use it on Large ore deposits and just walk in mine the small stuff. Id like to try adding drills to the corners so if i spin it maybe it will cut out a circle around the rig then i can just dig out from under it to avoid catching corners on the way back up.

I like this design, but it won't show up in my blueprints list?

Love this rig I made a few adjustments but it is an awsome build to gather resources

@xXXxx_tunadrinker691337420_xxXXx Some may prefer to not use a drone. It is very much personal preference. Additionally, some resources, on other planets, can easily be beyond the reach of the drone, preventing the player from getting to without getting into the mine shaft.

drone has a flashlight and can fly everywhere and you can mine from it just press f5

just use your drone to mine people... do people not know this?

one of my favorite ships, i use it to quickly gather resources with minimal fuss. Only problem i have is it gets stuck and flips over sometimes when i try to get out of holes so i suggest digging a few meters around the base for easy egress.

Its not automatic, just convenient. You mine from it , not with it.

At last I can spend time mining materials instead of trying to get out of the hole I just dug. I stay in the walkways and use the t2 tool. Mined 960 iron ore in about 25 minutes! If you get it right you can use the rig as a lift and the hole as a lift shaft. When finished just fly back to base. I've fitted a rocket launcher in the nose otherwise great work!

A perfect size for a mining machine and plenty of space all around to dig into the various rocks. Also easy on-foot access to the lone cockpit. Very well done!

@chromehawaiian thanks for the help. My problem seems to be related to not having the Gen 2 mining tool perhaps.

yeah, it doesn't auto-mine, what he means is that unlike the normal mining process where you have to have an unstable footing area (usually the ground you're mining on) you've got this wider array, so especially if you have a tier 2 mining tool, you can land, get out, stand on the hull/frame, aim down and mine. You have the convenience of cargo bays right there, and if you add lighting you can have a lit platform that you don't have to waste worklights on the mining area.

@Kristert I just started playing this after getting pissed at No Man's Sky. Love the hell out of this game so far. Can you help clarify the issue of "it doesn't mine for you"? I haven't built this one yet as I'd prefer not to waste the materials just yet but the description says:

I'm not asking if we can use this to "set and forget till we come back and collect our stuff", rather I am asking "Does this machine, with you at the helm, phsyically there in person, do the mining?

Guys, it doesn't mine for you. There are no machines in the game that do that (yet?). You have to to the mining yourself with the hand held drill, but you use this as a platform for mining from.

this is realy nice... mined out 1 full ore node in less then 1 ingame day alone... a big one...

Ingenious, does it lower itself the deeper you dig? I like it, working with the T2 hand held Drill is now even easier, frakin' Genius. Subscribed and endorsed.

to access the thrusters, turn them off from there. You can not use the Mining tool in the cockpit, it is basically a "platform" to mine from. The default SV is very small compared to this, but yes, you can build one yourself too.

How does this even work can you dig from cockpit ? if not what's even the point of having this? you can just make the default SV ship and do it. Am i missing something ?

Amazeing idea. Love it made mining fun again.

PCA: That's a feature for all vehicles because the cockpit is considered "airtight" and so needs to use O2 from the tanks for the pilot and passengers.

Very fun. But just a problem. there is a control for oxygen EVEN when i am on planet AKUA which is breathable !! I have died when i was in cockpit of Mine Rig with my head off

Worked fine for me until I tried to leave the hole. It somehow got caught and flipped over. I didn't yet manage to flip it back despite trying to dig more room for it :-(.
